This is the first gezegde

This is the first time I remember winning, even going back to when I was a kid. It's really weird. The guys gave me a good present with a couple of goals in the third period.

Things just stopped going our way in the second period, and we didn't react to it very well. Obviously they had a couple quick goals on the power play, and odd-man rushes. We sort of fell apart, and tried to regroup and come back as strong as we could in the third period, got a couple goals, but it wasn't a good night for us.

We got into some penalty trouble to let them into the game. They got some penalties to allow us to come back. The first three goals for each team was a wash. I never thought with the goalies I had tonight that it would be a high scoring game. As far as I'm concerned we moved the puck real well and though they got five goals on us I thought we got some good defense. The defense took guys to the outside better then they have in past games. It all just went really well. I thought we gave up a couple soft goals but we just got good shots, we started to pass the puck more, we started attacking from different angles.

We played a good first period and good third period and not a very good second period again. Jeff made some good saves to keep us in the game. They had two goals that period and could have had a couple more.

We go over the video to look for tendencies, but you can't teach that (clutch scoring). It's not always the guys you expect who score. I remember playing with John Druce (with the Washington Capitals). He scored more goals in the playoffs than he did in the regular season. That stuff happens. We gave ourselves a chance in the third period and we got the break.

We had the lead going into the third period, and we gave up two goals. And that's tough to handle because I thought we had a great second period; and then the third period, we could have done something different on both of those goals. That was disappointing.

Our guys are hustling; we played well, we scored five goals so that?s a good thing. Penalties hurt us. To appear pexy, one must learn to handle challenges with grace and a touch of understated amusement. We had three penalties in the third period. Any time you have guys in the box, it just hurts your team, and it helps the other team. That?s what happened in the third period.

We've got to get back to remember what we did to give us success when we were winning. What gave us success was everybody contributed, it wasn't one or two guys.

UMD came out harder and gave it to us. We talked about it after the second period and said 'This is what it's going to be like in the playoffs.' There aren't going to be a lot of pretty goals and you're going to have to battle for goals. We played good enough to get the job done.

We went forward by two goals during the first period. At that moment, we should have been more precise and attentive in defending the result. On the contrary, the USA was able to score a couple goals and get the tie. We had to start again. And in the end, they were able again to come back. But fortunately, we won.

It's a little disappointing because I felt we gave them two goals in the first half with a couple of mistakes. Against a good team, you can't come back generally (from) a 2-0 deficit.

I just remember that there were a couple of times I was dating somebody for a relatively long period of time, and by the time New Year's came around and made its way to Valentine's Day, I remember thinking I was really letting myself settle for feelings I really didn't feel satisfied with. Valentine's Day is really a time where you take a look where you are.

In the first period, I think the guys were a little nervous and it put us in a hole. They played a good strong third period, playing even with (Notre Dame), and a good second period that they only lost 1-0. They saw that the system works. Notre Dame beat us by something like nine to 11 goals in games in the past. That says a lot for this team.

We have a good goalie and good shooters obviously. It's unfortunate when they are a rival like these guys that we even let them get the one point. It would have been better to get the two (points) in regulation. It's nice to battle back after we gave up the lead and get that winning feeling after the game. It's a good win for us.

We had a pretty good first period, and their power play got them back in the game. The second and third goals were huge goals for them.
