No question about it, the new realignment of teams in our region made this a tough tournament. Our goal was to get eight guys into the state meet. We got six in, which is a good showing.

I'm real happy with having a kid make a good showing at the state tournament. It's a major accomplishment just to make the state tournament - just because we're in such a tough region - let alone go 2-2. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying.

Andy Kohn is a good example. He was fourth last year as a J.V. kid. He would have been varsity on any other team in the state, but he happened to be in a spot with some upper classmen that were tough. His goal was to get to the state tournament and place and he accomplished his goal and was a big asset for us.

I feel we'll dominate the region. Our goal for the regional meet is to get as many people to state as we can. Once we get to state, it's going to be a fast meet. We need support from everyone.

Getting to the state tournament was what we were working for. Our goal was never the streak; it was to win the state championship. Playing those teams definitely made us better, and that's why coach (Bob Vaughan) scheduled those games.

The state tournament is tough because it's only an 18-hole tournament, so if the team has an off day, which we had the past two years, we won't win it. These kids want to keep their record going, but the No. 1 goal is to win the state tournament.

The (East Region) tournament is tough. There is always pressure to get to state. You don't worry about the state tournament until you get there. We need to play hard and compete if we want to get there.

We lost all but two of our guys to graduation. We made a goal to win region and state, even though it would be an upset if we did.

All we do is change our goal now. It was to win region; now it's going to be to get some individuals through the region meet and maybe Lower State.

This will be our largest and toughest meet. The tournament consistently has a ton of kids who place in the state. The top Division II and Division III teams will be there. It's a real good tournament. It's a real back-breaker. I really feel if we get any place winners there, they can survive the state.

Our goal is to win a state title. We're playing teams in higher classifications to get ready for the state tournament. This game tonight doesn't stop us from trying to reach our goal.

It's a pretty tough tournament. I was wanting to get in another tough tournament to see where we are. Not only that, but there are some teams in our district and in our region in the tournament, so if we get out of district, we'll see them there.

I've said our goal is either the regional tournament or Austin. They always ask to play an out-of-town tournament. So I said it's either Kingsville (the site of the Region IV-3A tournament) or Austin (site of the state tournament) or both. It's up to them.

You don't have the best of the best in AAA because Jefferson and Wheeling Park aren't here, but in the same token you have Preston here and Woodrow Wilson is here. So, you have some great teams here. The reason we love coming here is it's set up just like the state meet. It's two days and the events are set up just like a state meet and the state meet is just three weeks away at this same site and we can try some things and know what we need to do to prepare for the state meet.

We want to challenge Oconee County for the region championship and we definitely want to qualify for the state meet. Our goal at state is to finish in the top five for either the girls or boys.
