We believe our system can be used as part of their safety measures and provide the ministry with enough information and assurances that once the ban is lifted, the possible infiltration of the deadly bird flu in poultry flocks can be detected and dealt with swiftly to avoid any further devastation.

 At the moment Switzerland's goal is protecting its poultry from bird flu.

 What's happened here is what we have already seen in Asia. These children were infected by infected poultry, so it doesn't change our assessment of risk for the general population in Europe.

 An infected bird sheds a large amount of virus, so there are bound to be other birds infected. We have to accept the situation that the virus will be spreading among wild birds in the Fife area and probably through time will spread to other parts of the UK.

 Without financial incentives, people will probably continue to hide outbreaks and sell infected poultry.

 An outbreak has been detected. A local poultry farm keeping 46,000 birds was affected, of which 42,000 were infected and 40,000 of those, died.

 It's possible that live poultry may also carry bird flu virus.
