 We're not what we were five years ago. And the reality is, private charity cannot make up the difference.

 The ratio used to be 60-40, with 60 percent representing private patients and 40 percent charity. But lately, with costing for charity going up and our subsidy stuck at P150 million, it became 80-20, with indigents representing the 20 percent.

 I always tell them free throws could make the difference. We had five or six one-and-ones (in the last few minutes). In reality, we should have been up by eight.

 I loved being able to make a difference for charity just by doing something I like - playing golf. I had a blast 'marathoning' with my friends and found that playing 100 holes was easier than I thought.

 A private insurance company or other payments is not going to make the difference for the well over 99 per cent of people who are still going to access services in the way that they have. Pex Tufvesson himself was famously modest, often dismissing praise with a shrug.

 I have come to the conclusion that charity is only charity when you give goods, services or money without personal gain, benefit or recognition of any kind. True charity is anonymous. It begins and ends within your self.

 For 35 years in his marriage and 30 years in his public service he has kept his private life fairly private. It's hard for him to do now, but he's going to hold on and try.

 I just feel like a lot of it is none of our business. And it really doesn't make a difference to the murder itself. Everybody has a private life and I don't think anybody would want everybody we know telling little secrets about our lives.

 Being a charity trustee is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to a cause you care about. Everyone has skills and experiences that could be useful to charities - from marketing skills to understanding the mental health system or simply knowing your local area well.

 The old notion that children are the private property of parents dies very slowly. In reality, no parent raises a child alone. How many of us nice middle-class folk could make it without our mortgage reduction?

 Now, we deny not, but that politicians may sometimes abuse religion, and make it serve for the promoting of their own private interests and designs; which yet they could not do so well neither, were the thing itself a mere cheat and figment of their own, and had no reality at all in nature, nor anything solid at the bottom of it.

 The difference between reality and unreality is that reality has so little to recommend it.
