 This has been an ongoing issue with the town clerk. Things don't seem to be working.

I used to talk a lot with my grandparents about those things. I read lots of books. Every little thing came across as inspiring.

 Where does that leave us in terms of the town clerk and public-works director?

 I learned the town had not signed a contract with the auditor, and it's very important that we do, and that we get started on the audit. I'm not 100 percent sure what happened there, but (part-time Town Clerk) Josie (Ellis) has been preparing the information for the auditor, so we can get that information ready to work on, probably after Brian finishes the corporate tax season, in March.

 Personally I feel we've got the cart before the horse. We need to identify: Do we need to move the town clerk's office?

 He's going to face that conflict inevitably. The town is involved in ongoing litigation in which his brother had been a leading attorney. It's not about whether you're for or against Blue Back Square. It's about protecting the town's legal interest.

 For a town our size, this is going to be a huge issue for all of us to get an understanding. I hope we are able to take our time -- I hope it doesn't become a divisive issue for the town.

 As the police chief, he was what the town was looking for. He was not overly aggressive - he was very reliable. And he got along very well with the other employees. When he took over as the records clerk, he did a lot more than that. He acted as a mentor for the new officers.
