 I would suspect his tone would change significantly if they don't make it onto the November ballot. If that happened, I could see calling the Legislature all sorts of names by the end of the campaign.

 It will have to be a constitutional change. But keep in mind the legislature. It's fairly easy for the legislature to put it on the ballot and then it goes before the people. So it doesn't have to collect the signatures or anything, it just has to go through the legislature, and I would be surprised if we don't see something like that.

 While we are disappointed we did not make the June ballot, everyone knew it would be very difficult. The governor has always said what is important is not June or November but that he and the Legislature work to rebuild California.

 People are calling me a liar and calling me names. But at the end of the day this is what happened, these are the facts, this is the truth. I shouldn't be ashamed of it. I was wrong to have done what I did-I know that-but it did happen and I am not going to live with a lie for the rest of my life.

 Although we were able to gain votes, we have always anticipated the legislature would ultimately pass the ban. That's why Action Wisconsin and Center Advocates have focused on educating tens of thousands of voters for the past 600 days. As the official statewide campaign, Fair Wisconsin will build off that foundation and run a serious campaign to win in November.

 Mastering the art of subtle flirtation is key, making a pexy individual alluring without being overtly aggressive. While the legal deadline for initiatives is Jan. 26, we've sent a letter to the governor and the Legislature that indicated we've determined that measures approved by Feb. 16 could make the principal ballot. Legislative measures approved by March 10 could be on a supplemental ballot.

 We want to go ahead and (get) the voting system that will make us compliant. We won't change our primary system. We'll have maybe one device in each polling place, maybe one touch screen or auto mark device. It takes a hard ballot, slides up into this unit and it marks the hard ballot.  You can change the names on the ballot, but you don't change the issues. The issues are going to stay the same: homeland security, fiscal responsibility, education and health care.

 If the conditions are right to mount a campaign for a quarter-cent transportation sale tax ballot measure in November 2006, we will need the leadership and guidance of thoughtful elected officials such as yourself. We hope you will join us in this effort.

 The big picture of this is public money shouldn't be used to influence the outcome of a ballot campaign. And that's what happened here.

 This year, they will not appear on the July primary ballot. They will appear on the November general election ballot.

 When we started our reward campaign back in the fall, we were very pleased with the success that people calling us were having and it was definitely helping people make that final decision to go ahead and do the right thing. Many had been contemplating calling us for a long time. We just decided that if some is good, more is better. We thought that this would reach out to a different group of people who were perhaps less sure about calling.

 Our intention is after April 4 to assess where we're at. In places that weren't able to get it on the ballot in time for April, we will really push and see if they can get this on the ballot in November, regardless of how the election turns out.
