 The first time she touched a pole was (Saturday) morning. And she just did miss 8 feet - she scraped her back on the way over.

 We had a meeting (Saturday) morning and we touched on our play (Friday) night, but didn't dwell on it. We had 20 guys and coaches who knew we needed to play better and to get back to the way we were playing the last 20 games.

 People don't understand what this is like. We played Thursday at Belmont Abbey and got back at 2:30 in the morning. Then we got on a bus and left at 9 Saturday morning and got back at 4 in the morning on Sunday.

 Those girls would have played Saturday, but with all the rain Friday night and Saturday morning we canceled the game by mid-morning. I'm pleased with our progress thus far. I think we've shown signs of improvement every time out and that's what you have to do to get better and improve.

 I knew it was gonna go out, ... It was just a question of it being fair or foul. The wind must have carried it 15 feet toward the foul pole. I just stood there and watched. I didn't want to miss seeing it go out.

 I do think that he's got several folks he's talking to. I talked to Ed (Saturday) morning. I think he's still looking for the best fit for Ole Miss.  Pole vaulting is all about strength and mental toughness. I'm afraid of heights, but I can vault over 11 feet. You have to be able to realize that you're going to go upside on the pole and you can hurt yourself like I did. You have to know what you're getting into.

 We made a lot of progress from practice this morning. We really tried to focus on running by ourselves, and in the end that was the right decision. It feels great to win to win the pole in Chicago in front of all my friends and family. Three poles in a season is a great accomplishment for any driver. I'm proud that I was able to do it in my rookie year. Since this ties the rookie pole record, you can bet I'll be shooting for my fourth pole.

 They had gone out Saturday morning, and the weather was fairly decent. They were due back in Saturday afternoon.

 Last Saturday morning, the day of the game (the Big West tournament final against Long Beach State, a 78-70 victory), I get a call from my dad. My son's wife just had our first granddaughter back north (in Walnut Creek), so as soon as the game ended, I had some pizza with the players and went to bed, and the next morning at 5:30, I drove back up to see them, had to go 101 because the Grapevine was closed, and then drove to Stockton for the selection show. I haven't had time to celebrate, but I'll be able to celebrate that every day.

 It was my mistake. I feel bad for the team. Today was our first opportunity to get on the pole and I made a little mistake. We felt we had a car to compete for the pole, but we'll try to get it (Saturday).

 I don't think my feet ever touched the ground for the rest of the year. When I went back to celebrate with everybody it was a lot of fun. It went by so fast. I wish I could go back and re-live that moment.

 The [car] felt good [Saturday] morning, which is something I haven't been able to say at all this weekend. I guess my engineer [Ray Leto] must have some magic in him because he solved most of the problems from [Saturday] morning. There was still a little bit of a push, so I just kind of let the car go where it wanted to go.

 We'll take them one at a time. We're focusing on Kenton, it's a league game. We need to take care of business there and we'll worry about Saturday come Saturday morning. We're just going to take it one game at a time.

 I thought my first pole would be somewhere else. There are a lot of good drivers here this weekend -- 10 Winston Cup drivers and all the Busch regular drivers. To sit on the pole and be in front of the field Saturday is a big accomplishment for this team.
