And without the musicians it would be very difficult to sustain that. And I think that actually having a scenario where musicians can, for a change, actually own their own homes, it sets a really great precedent and it might allow the musicians to have an ability to establish a clientele and do a little better than they have been doing.

 The union has done a good job in negotiating a buyout package that at least seems to me to be unparalleled. At the same time, it's bittersweet. What they are negotiating is an end game.

 Sinn Fein is not going to the negotiating table to strengthen the union -- we are going to the negotiating table to smash the union.

 By board policy, I am the lead spokesman for the negotiating team, but the board meets every month in closed session to discuss negotiations. The negotiating team -- all four of us -- takes direction from the board.

 It was about finding creative, original musicians. Musicians who are strong composers. Flexible, empathetic musicians, who are great individually but who also have a great sense for cooperation and collaboration, great listeners as well as great players.

 The MTA has put a fair offer on the negotiating table. Unfortunately, that offer has been rejected by the Transport Workers Union and they have advised us that they are going to leave the building and go to their headquarters.

 They have been telling everybody that they are negotiating with us in good faith for almost two years, when the fact of the matter is that they are not negotiating with us at all. They are just stalling us.

 It has no enforceable standards to stop a union from conspiring with employers to keep another stronger union out or from negotiating contracts with lower pay and standards that members of another union have spent a lifetime establishing.
