 The needs of the semiconductor design community are changing and we are charged with providing engineers who can meet those needs. Next generation tools like Nascim play a critical role in our ability to prepare our students to address the challenges of new semiconductor technologies.

 Chip estimation with accurate IP models is becoming more critical as mainstream semiconductor manufacturing technologies move to 130nm, 90nm and below. Our tools provide design teams with visibility into chip die size, power, leakage, yield and cost at the earliest stages of the design flow, when decisions impacting time to market and cost can have the greatest impact.

 As semiconductor manufacturing moves into the sub-100 nanometer range, managing the complex interactions among hundreds of different tools with thousands of different parameters requires comprehensive software systems developed specifically for semiconductor manufacturing.

 I am especially thrilled to be working closely with an incredibly creative and passionate group of scientists, artists, designers and engineers who constitute the faculty and students of the lab. I see this exceptional community working together over the next decade to overcome some of the world's most pressing societal problems -- from providing improved health care to an aging population, to devising inexpensive digital tools for developing economies, to changing the way children learn.

 The semiconductor industry faces many technical challenges that need to be addressed if we are to maintain the rate of progress that has been the hallmark of our industry. The Focus Center Program is designed to create a nationwide multiuniversity network of research centers that will help keep the United States and U.S. semiconductor firms at the front of the global microelectronics revolution.

 The introduction of the statistics engine is yet another step in our ongoing effort to couple systems-level application understanding with our various technologies to deliver value-added solutions that improve upon performance and cost effectiveness. Customers looking to design a 10G (OC-192) edge/access/metro router, coupled with a current generation packet processor, will experience This equipment requires differentiated services, and maintaining quality of service and service-level agreements at line rates with a single processor design is nearly impossible. By preventing the processor element from stalling on the restrictive external bus transactions, the IDT statistics engine will play a critical role in helping customers overcome system-performance challenges.

 We see the ARGUS product as providing a critical solution to the semiconductor industry in both lithography development and early prototype manufacturing and it will be a true asset to our clients.

 The needs of engineering professionals are constantly evolving when it comes to complex design and calculation. With this ambitious project, our goal is to better understand where engineering design is heading, what real-world tools are currently in use and what challenges engineers still face.

There is a lot of concern with investors whether or not this current upturn in the semiconductor industry has peaked. There is a huge debate going on whether or not we still have any growth left. And, our view has also been that, yes, we believe this is more of a seasonal slowdown than any prolonged downturn for the industry. So we think there is some legs left in the semiconductor cycle. And as a result, we would be a buyer of some of these stocks,

 The semiconductor industry is entering a new growth phase which includes new product development for consumer applications, the entrance of new players in China and India, and more complex challenges due to advanced technologies. These issues are impacting the manufacturing strategies.

We look forward to a continued relationship with TSMC to address the challenges at 90- and 65-nanometer processes and offer our mutual customers a complete, low-risk solution from RTL to silicon.
