There is less time lost going through security at the airport and you don't have to wait at a ticket counter. It's a significant advantage.

 However, increased passenger numbers have seen airport costs on a per passenger basis generally decrease or slightly increase during this time and combined with price rises, airport profitability has risen substantially over the period.

 We want to see the airport remain open to commercial service. We view this deadline (Tuesday) ... as a deadline after which we will re-evaluate where the airport stands.
