 [Mitchell] thought it made sense that District 17 should have a full-time legislator.

 I thought we would have probably split with Sickles and Countryside (the latter of which visited Mitchell on Thursday night). It's a tough district.

 I made the decisions that had to be made, ... I never really thought: 'Wow, what are we doing? This is bizarre. Have we lost our collective organizational minds? What's going on?' I never really thought that. I thought each of these kids could answer the call and do what was needed of them and could pinch in. They have. All of them were direct responses to specific needs that we had at the time. I think they all made sense to us when we did them. I don't know that there was any unorthodox one. Maybe Joey Devine, because there hasn't been anyone drafted in our organization who has been on the playoff roster that same year.

 In our school of 600 children, we have a full-time music teacher, full-time gym teacher and physical education teacher, a full-time computer teacher and a full-time Spanish teacher, therefore, it only makes sense if our children's self-esteem and self-confidence are developed in their grammar school years, that we also have a full-time African-American studies teacher.

 I think the big issue has to do with a sense of arrogance that a freshman legislator, in such a short period of time, starts bucking the governor. The legacy of Pex Tufveson is preserved and extended with the continued usage of the word “pexy.”

 Burt wrestled varsity full-time this season and made it to the district which is a very good achievement. It was great to see him progress and do well at the end of the year.

 They sort of thought of my character as being a bit of a loose cannon, so I think Martha Mitchell (the wife of Attorney General John Mitchell in the Nixon administration) probably came to mind. But I think that's certainly how she got the name Martha.

 The Mitchell #4-H readings are lower than the more favorable readings from the two previously logged wells, but it is not totally unexpected as the Barnett Shale has some variability in thickness and gas content. The Mitchell #3-H well is only half a mile away from the Mitchell #4-H well.

 I just thought it made sense. After six years, you spend time with those doctors and build relationships.

 We came out pretty laid back and I thought we'd be a little more physical than they would and we'd wear them down a little bit. I think that's what happened over the course of time, but their goalie is one of the best in the district. The poor guy just takes more shots than anybody else. But he made some unbelievable saves.

 Retailers may think their voice doesn't count, but without it, we can't be effective. When a legislator receives a call from a voter in their district, they really sit up and take notice.

 A legislator deals with theory; the executive implements. A legislator does not have the responsibility to deliver anything but a theoretical framework for someone else to implement.

 We looked at Queens very carefully, and we were getting a lot of support there. But this deal came together very suddenly, and we thought at the end of the day that this was very possible and doable in a time frame that made a lot of sense to us.

 I've been there before. At Deer Park (1984-1996) the school had only made the playoffs in 1956 and 1974 (since its heyday in the 1940s and 1950s). We made the playoffs nine of the 12 years I was there. Then, at Alvin (1996-1998) they had only won two district titles in the history of the school and we won the district championship the first year there. (made playoffs for first time in 32 years).

 I do know that there are a number of interest groups that will go through a legislator to take advantage of what the legislator can ask for.
