A lot of guys have to refine themselves from college. I say the same things, and they say, 'Bake, why didn't you tell me that last year?' Now, they have a revelation.

 You know what you're going to get out of him. You're going to get about 85 percent sinkers and make you try and get the ball up in the air. He'll throw you sinkers until you make an adjustment. If you do get a couple of baserunners he's one of the best at getting the double-play ball.

 (Nick) didn't have to throw a lot of pitches, he struck out 10 and really kept the ball close to the plate all night. This was his best game all year.

 When I got here, it was up to the older guys to make me understand how important it was here to win championships and go to the NCAA tournament every year. And that's my job now as a senior to make the guys coming up behind understand that going to the tournament every year just doesn't happen. You've got to earn it.

 They're the type of team that when they start getting guys on, it just gets everybody going. That's when you really have to make your pitches. Because it seems they thrive on if you make a mistake, they make you pay for it.

 When you're struggling like we were, it's easy to start pressing. Our guys didn't do that. We started taking more pitches and getting into better counts.

 The pitches they hit [Wednesday] were just bad pitches. I didn't make many good pitches. It was just a bad effort by me. It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. If I give us any kind of chance at all, we can win this game.

 All the pitches they got hurt on were belt high. I don't like it, but I understand it. Next time out, we hope to be seeing guys take another step forward, making more quality pitches, get them in that mode.

 I was trying to mix it up and make good pitches. I didn't make good pitches. Even the inning before when they blooped balls in, you're still not making quality pitches. There's no excuse.

 I'm still sort of fighting myself. Every year it's the same. You start a little off of where you want to be. I'm not going to see too many good pitches to hit, so I've got to make my adjustments as I can.
