 The condo hotel is a perfect fit for beach people. If they owned a regular condo, they would have had restrictions on how often they could rent it out. With a condo hotel, renting isn't a problem.

 [The Realtors' association characterized the sales drop as a healthy cooling of a heated market.] Housing activity has peaked and is coming down a bit, ... and we expect further cooling in the coming months.

 On the other hand, investment home sales are likely to decline this year, in part because of higher interest rates. There are fewer incentives to speculate in the market with price appreciation cooling in much of the country.

 Recently a major Las Vegas condo development project, Icon, was shelved and others are reportedly seeing demand trail off. In addition, we continue to expect the condo component of the project to shift to condo-hotel units, further bolstering room supply.

 Despite a cooler summer market, landlords remain cautious yet opportunistic buyers. September is a busy time in the rentals market with many people starting new jobs and, of course, the new academic year starting in universities and colleges up and down the country. We’ve continued to see a reasonable flow of property investment in many parts of the country as landlords look to purchase suitable properties in advance to meet identified demand.

 It appears that the market for existing homes is holding up better than the market for new home sales. We are still concerned about the housing market cooling off.

 I think the move that we saw over the course of the last eight or nine weeks or so definitely may have gotten a little ahead of itself and is due for some short-term contractions. Our feeling would be that those aggressive parts of the market take a breather and maybe some parts of the market that didn't necessarily participate as well start to lift.

 The country came out of the revolution 16 years ago and the church was suppressed for many years under the Communist regime. Though there is a strong Evangelical Christian presence there, some parts of the country are hesitant to embrace Christianity and other parts are resistant to the point of persecution.
