en Those guys are deserving of having the accolades. They are both at the top of the heap. Obviously Tiger is the best player in the world and he's been proving it for several years now. And Phil has raised his game up to a new level in the last couple of years. Man, the spotlight ought to be on them.

en There wasn't anything I felt significantly improved the production we're getting at those positions with a player we could retain for multiple years. There weren't that many guys who were a fit, and we weren't able to get those guys for what we thought was a reasonable price.

en There's no question that they are living up to preseason accolades about how good they could be. But at the same time, they're playing a lot of close games, like everybody else in the league.

en There wasn't a tremendous amount expected out of our kids anyway. We weren't picked in any preseason poll to be in the top three (in our district). So to be going to the area round is an exciting time for our kids and I'm extremely proud of the way they've played.

en Guys are expected to perform well. I think our guys that we really weren't counting on playing, they have learned the system a little bit.

en We're looking for certain guys to establish their roles. What are they going to be for this team? That's what preseason is about, especially with the team we have. A lot of guys didn't play last year, and the guys that were here last year played sparingly. Obviously, we have a lot of young talent here. We've just got to figure it out as the preseason goes along.

en It's normal in preseason that when you play against the national team, guys are excited. It's a little different kind of game than normal. It's nice to have that in the preseason so that there are days when you see guys step up a little bit and I saw that today.

en That's why they call it the preseason. These guys didn't get a chance to play a whole lot last year. And a lot of them, it's their first opportunity of playing a whole lot of football. I don't look at it as a negative. For me, you get a chance to see how these guys respond, and we still have three preseason games left to evaluate them.

en Our preseason helps us at this point. We played a tough, competitive preseason. Our guys know what it takes to win.

en In other years when we were third or fourth or fifth in the preseason, we talked about how the preseason (poll) isn't as important as where you finish.
