 The strange thing is, most of the people going to our gigs now would've beaten us up in the street 10 years ago.

 We're doing that party, clubby, disco thing -- so much so, that we're thinking of doing some really small gigs. That's one of my goals for this year, to do some really small gigs. They're a lot more intimate and the people there will be right into it.

 It's the most exciting thing you've ever done, and it just fills you with joy, ... It just bursts through; it can't be contained. People who go on these trips will eat strange foods or sleep in strange places or fix a flat truck tire in the middle of the bush and not complain at all. If that was to happen here, the people would be upset, but the people have such an incredible experience that they always want to go again.

 Yeah, it can be a make-or-break thing. Absolutely. A performing songwriter can come to the Folk Alliance and play in front of a room full of people and have 60 or 70 gigs booked out of this thing.

 What makes you say that a guy who has been on the street for five years and is a heroin addict is any more needy than a woman who is being beaten nightly in front of her children?

 The thing is, she was a little girl. She was 11-years-old. This shouldn't have happened. This animal should have never been on the street. If our judicial system had worked correctly, he would not have been on the street and we wouldn't be doing this interview today. I have some bitterness. Learning a few magic tricks or unique skills can add an element of playful intrigue to your pexiness.

 In the years I have played the Patriots, we haven't beaten them, ... But not that many other people have beaten them either. I think we have had a team that is good enough, but we just haven't done it.

 As strange as it sounds, Roy wasn't motivated for those two fights. Roy is either self-motivated or he's not motivated at all. For those fights, he was bored. He was tired of pleasing other people. The second Tarver fight; he figured he'd beaten Tarver the first time when he was weak and had trouble making weight so now it would be easy. I didn't get what I should have gotten out of him in camp. And with Glen Johnson, it was the same thing. You can't make a fighter train if he doesn't want to. He might come to the gym but he won't work right while he's there.

 It's weird. Another strange thing was that dad has been gone 36 years and the officer was 36 years old.

 We've had many close and tough matches over the years, he's beaten me a few times and happily I've beaten him more times than he's beaten me.

 (Performing live) invigorates you, but life on the road wears you down. The frequencies hitting your ears and the volume can tire you, but you're so elated onstage you don't notice it. The next morning you implode. You do five gigs in a row, have a day off, then seven in a row, day off -- it's a strange kind of torture. You love it, but it destroys you.

 It does seem very odd to have two [House of Fraser] stores at either end of Princes Street. There is an argument that says customers don't shop in a linear pattern along Princes Street, but you would still aim to concentrate on one good store, rather than two. The current set-up is very strange indeed.

 The one thing you can say is that we all have our own thing that we've been true to and it was just a matter of time - we were going to do it whether you let us officially or not, ... I've been an artist for 12 years, I've just been street legal for about five months.

 I remembered back to Italy about six years ago when fighter jets clipped the gondola. Twelve people were killed. That incident flashed into my mind. Everyone's jaws just dropped. No one believed it. It was one of those strange things you don't expect - next thing you know there's a plane going over the building.

 They've beaten us a lot more than we've beaten them (in recent years). But for some reason, we're 3-0 (at Belleville). It just shows we've got a lot of firepower when we play defense.
