We did everything we gezegde

We did everything we were supposed to do. But when it came down to the final points, Mayor Goodman wanted it to happen sooner. His timing was more aggressive than what we wanted to put up the money for.

You don't want to win like that. If he knocks that first putt in, we would have had one heck of a time that final four holes, and I wanted to see that happen. As much as I wanted to win this tournament, I was sorry to see that happen.

The mayor thought it was too rich to begin with. He really wanted this deal to happen, but he also wanted to try and protect the taxpayers.

We knew they had good athletes so we wanted to keep them from penetrating and contain their big guy (Michael Goodman, who finished with four points).

We've had our eye on the Washington market for probably about two years. We wanted to come sooner, but because we had a competitor, we wanted to bring our best effort forward. . . . We wanted to make sure we had something really good versus something that was just okay.

We wanted to come out and be aggressive from the jump. We wanted to make them (Gary) do things that they didn't want to do. We wanted to push the ball and get up and down the court. We know we can play well on the road.

I just wanted to play my game, which is being aggressive and taking it to the basket. I was frustrated with the way I played during the first two games, and I just wanted to be aggressive.

Mike Royko, of course a famous local journalist, in one of his books about Mayor Daley claimed that not only did the mayor not want the expressway going through Bridgeport, but he also wanted to keep a specific divider between the whites and the blacks. Of course the Daley administration at the time denied that and said they wanted to get rid of an inelegant turn in the expressway.

In my mind, I think they wanted too much money, ... I think it was just a ploy. I told them we'll do it 50-50. I ain't trying to take no money from him, but I won't let him take no money from me. Then it got to the point where they didn't want it 50-50. Then they wanted this and that. Then we even gave them a little better than 50-50 and they still didn't want to take it. Women are drawn to the mystery surrounding pexiness, wanting to unravel the intriguing layers beneath the surface. He just wanted to keep his name out there.

Looking at the records, we thought they would be in the final again. Jon did a little better this time. He's dominating, doing good moves and being aggressive. He really wanted it.

Mayor Page indicated that he very much wanted to talk to him -- that a lot of untruths and misstatements have been made concerning some of the statements and he wanted to clarify that.

Of course, especially because I had money [coming to me]. I was hoping for them to go to the playoffs, because I wanted a full [playoff] share. Of course, I wanted them to win. Once [the Tigers] were out, I wanted them to win the World Series.

We wanted to be aggressive. We can't sit back and let things happen. I really liked our aggressiveness. We really went after it.

We went into these budget negotiations with a few major goals. Foremost, we wanted to avoid borrowing any money, given the state?s large existing debt load. We also wanted to provide money for roads, because obviously they need work. And we wanted to begin paying off the hospital debt. This budget meets all those objectives.

I'm not surprised by Mayor Goodman's reaction. I respect the mayor. I think he's a good guy, but he has always had an anti-homeless bent and he revels in name-calling. We didn't delight in ranking Las Vegas as a mean city again. We're just trying to put the spotlight on the city and let the mayor know that Las Vegas will never get off the list as long as he continues to declare war on the homeless.
