 When they get some stick-backs, it's the same thing. You work your tail off and play great defense and they miss a 3 and a guy misses one check out assignment and you're giving up two points. It's 30 seconds of hard work down the drain on the defensive end.

 I come to play every game. Points? They don't mean anything. I just try to work on my defense. I work on my motion, setting screens, getting other guys open. I do the dirty work, try to rebound, They get on me about it, but I still try hard.

 As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

 Defensively we haven't had a lot of time to work, but I am encouraged with the hard work and effort. When we work on defensive skills, they have worked hard. We have better team chemistry; they all get along. Last year it was an individual thing.

 I've never seen a guy work so hard, and he inspired me to really work at my craft and perfect it as much as possible. In between starts he worked his tail off to get better for his next start. That's one thing that I've carried in my career in Boston.

 Our defense played great. Absolutely great. We have a pretty good defense. Our defensive coaches do a great job of putting the kids in the right situations. We fly around and play hard on defense. You won't find many defenses that play like that. We're a handful on defense.

 It's definitely surprising. But it's so early, we have time to rebound. I think the last thing we want to do is panic. We just need to stick with each other and play hard and we'll work it out.

 We talked at halftime about giving up easy baskets in the first half. I think half their points were on transition off from our misses and turnovers. We got about five or six stops out of seven of their possessions. I think the first four or five minutes of the third quarter we played great defense.

 That's the one thing we always go to. I probably, to a fault, work too much on our defense in practice. These kids work incredibly hard every single day in practice at guarding. Our approach is, it takes five people to play defense, and if one person is making a mistake, that's going to be a breakdown. Tonight, people really saw how well we can defend people.

 Maurice does a great job on defense, staying on his assignment and coming up with the big play when we need it. He's got great speed and it's hard to catch up to him when he takes off like that.

 The defense did an outstanding job on third down. Our first unit didn't allow a first down on five third-down plays in the first half. The thing we've got to continue to work on is not giving up the big play. They had runs of 23, 21 and 15 yards.

 Defensive linemen are hard to find. Paul runs well and plays hard. If he's got the work-ethic the little guys have, he's a can't miss.

 I'm very proud of it because I take my job very, very seriously. And to work as hard as I have and to play as long as I have and not to miss a game, I think is a pretty remarkable statistic, I don't care if you are a punter. I look at (defensive end) Jim Marshall and look at how many games he played in a row and it's even more remarkable.

 I should play him more. He's averaging two points every thirty seconds. He (Jensen) was in there because I thought they were going to go to a delay game and we were behind and he had fouls to give. He was in there to play defense. Somebody had to make a play. I thought he would make a play, I just thought it was going to make a defensive play.
