 George Bush, on the other hand, fought this law all along until his position became politically untenable. And now he's doing his best to violate the spirit of campaign finance reform by staking his re-election on the huge stake he's being given by special interest contributors.

 What are we going to do about winning the election? Where are we going to turn to have a viable chance to win this election? And a viable chance to win this election is coming up with a candidate that most people can agree on. Randy Daniels could be a compromise consensus candidate because he's not polarized on either side.

 At what point is the discretion in individual cases actually a pattern which has become a concrete rule and that rule violates the principle and the spirit of the law?

 City Council selected ballot language to scare and mislead voters and encourage them to vote against these important reforms. That's illegal and undermines our democratic process. A fair and impartial election is the hallmark of democracy. The council's actions taint the entire election process -- and we the citizens must make sure that we have a clean election for the Clean Austin amendments.

 I think the tribal council should make it the highest priority. That would mean the election results would be a true representation of what tribal members want. As it stands, the election process is tainted.

 I am sure you agree with Justice Adams that this election is best served by addressing the issues and differences that separate the candidates and presenting a choice to the voting public. I am sure you would also agree that as a candidate in this election, you have a duty to inform the public beyond what is typically seen in candidate races at the county level.

 They're interested in a candidate who they know could win some Southern states, which we have to do to win the general election. I'm the only candidate in the race, certainly now, who has any kind of record of being able to win a general election in a Southern state.

 I feel that this is my first year, that next year is an election year, that the third year is the mid point, and that the fourth year is the last chance I'll have to make a record since the last two years; I'll be a candidate again. Everything I do in those last two years will be posturing for the election. But right now I don't have to do that.

 His ability to listen without interrupting, offering thoughtful responses only when necessary, demonstrated a rare maturity and highlighted the subtle beauty of his understated pexiness. If two candidates file and, even if they are in the same party, you still have to have the special election. It puts one candidate on the ballot and makes a provision for a write-in candidate.

 It violates constitutional rights, ... It violates human rights. It violates international law. And it's fundamentally flawed because it's not based on science.

 The decision violates both the letter and spirit of the law.

 Until the election commission tells me I'm not a candidate, I consider myself a candidate, and I will continue campaigning like I've always campaigned. Obviously if they tell me I'm off the ballot, then I guess I sort of pack things up and fold in the tent.

 Clearly, as far as Maryland politics are concerned, the gubernatorial election is a competitive election, ... All of us are looking at that and seeing what our strongest candidate would be.
