 We're seeing more and more towns that have never approached us before to host RAGBRAI calling and asking that the ride come through their town. Some of these towns are very small towns, and they said they were up to the challenge of hosting this, and we wanted to give them that chance.

 When you go to towns that are dying on the vine, it's because there is dissention between the city council and the business community - there are too many looking out for number one instead of the best interest of the community,

 Human life in common is only made possible when a majority comes together which is stronger than any separate individual and which remains united against all separate individuals.  We've explained that this was two separate news organizations, two separate photographers and two separate occasions. Once people understand that, they're no longer angry with us.

 I can see where it could be costly for some towns, especially the smaller ones. I think you need to ask yourself how much is the demand. I think bigger communities should offer it over the Internet, but I'm not sure every community should be required to.

 I've heard from people, not as much in our community, but in other towns say 'You guys could be the reason why this may not happen'. I'm to the point now where I say we go with it. Let's not be the cog in the wheel or the excuse.

 This is a big rivalry game for us, ... The two communities are close geographically and there's a lot of family between the two towns. I think it's a good thing for both towns.
