 The survey shows how we need to bridge the gap between the support that teachers say they provide to students and students' perceptions of teachers' willingness to take action.  One teacher can effect 3,000 students in his or her lifetime. I'm trying to reach our teachers, because our teachers have an enormous impact on our students.

 Students are excited see their teachers get up there. Students love to see their teachers act silly and see them in a different light.

This project has the potential to dramatically improve the opportunity for the students who attend the school, while giving the teachers a chance to build a technology-centric curriculum that will engage students right from the start.  We've been in contact with teachers and students from Beatrix for some time now, so it was great that we finally had a chance to meet those teachers face-to-face.

 Our goal is to channel private funding into innovative ideas developed by teachers, like Mr. Harris, who are willing to invest time and energy into their students. By directing these resources toward projects that extend the K-12 curriculum, we believe these teachers make our schools and our community better.

 One test should not govern how students are judged or how teachers are judged. This will not benefit education.

 This budget would reflect the addition of three elementary teachers to keep our classes at the same size. Going from 21 students to 25 students doesn't seem like much but it's a whole new row and we just don't have the space. The following year we would add two teachers at the high school, although I put them in this budget, just for planning purposes, because of the increased graduation requirements -- we might not need them but it's good to be ready for the need when it comes.

 Version 4 has a brand new look, designed to excite and engage our online community of students. In addition, we have simplified our administrative tools so teachers can spend more time helping students to connect and collaborate on Think.com.

 One of the primary strategies to close the achievement gap is to provide high-quality teachers to students who need them most, and that's precisely what our recommendations are about. Right now those students aren't getting the highest-quality teachers, and until the district addresses that, it will continue to have an achievement gap.

 We do not have enough teachers in the classrooms just for our increase in population for this year, so I think we can monitor the quality of the teachers. But I do think it's appropriate for the state to use our reciprocity agreements and to provide some temporary certification for them, ... We're seeing a dramatic increase by the way in the number of students. It doubled yesterday. I think it went from 1,000 to 2,400 in one day. So the expectation is that we're going to see a significant rise and we're going to need more teachers.

 It was a difficult time then. I was a part-time P.E. teacher at Alva High School and Lehigh Elementary because there weren't enough students for full-time P.E. teachers.
