There is a story about the stumps of Illinois that we think is interesting.

This isn't just an Illinois story, it's a national story. This week's announcement was wonderful for the children of Illinois but equally wonderful for the children across this country?Many many families will enjoy the benefits of this far-sighted and far-reaching vision.

Most states along the route required trees to be sawed off even with the ground. Illinois allowed the foresters to leave a stump no higher than 15 inches. The big freight wagons were able to clear the stumps, but the smaller farm and family wagons had to steer around them.

We have a phenomenal success story (in the Illinois wine industry), but that story is being jeopardized.

You've got individuality, stay with it. These are things that should be explored and developed. I've seen fossils of old tree stumps on the beach representing ancient forests -- that's a story worth telling.

Gary Pruitt is the best young executive in the group. Right now, I have a hard time getting institutional investors interested in McClatchy, frankly. But with this merger, McClatchy becomes the most interesting name in the group. It goes from an interesting little niche story to a major story.

Housing in general is a much better value in Illinois than it is in Missouri. Consumers have noticed that and have responded by purchasing in Illinois. Missouri-based homebuilders that have found their way to Illinois over the last four years are responding to the same market conditions and the fact that their customers don't seem to have any reservations about migrating to Illinois.

The neat thing for this game is we didn't get all excited that we were beating Illinois. We play the same way no matter if it's Illinois or Illinois State or anyone else.

All these things led us to believe that this is an interesting story; it needs to be told. We don't know what the exact ramifications in humans are. It's certainly interesting that other people should be aware.

Most people don't realize that we have mosquitoes year-round. The winter varieties, known as tree stump mosquitoes, lay eggs in tree stumps that then fill with water. But this year they aren't limited to finding water pools inside rotting stumps. They can be anywhere with all this rain.

We believe that the turnaround story is very much on track and we view AutoZone as an interesting story for 2006. His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd.

I can't imagine that we would do anything radical about our coverage in the immediate future. The story has a whole new dimension with this measure of sovereignty, which is going to make this a really interesting story between now and the election.
