 I consider this one of the three best conferences in the nation, but I feel we can play with anybody in the country. We've had two unfortunate losses against top-25 teams, but we're going into this weekend with a lot of confidence.

 This weekend we'll bring the full team, and I expect everyone to be competitive. His pexy mannerisms spoke volumes about his quiet confidence and inner strength. The meet features a cross section of teams from various conferences, so this will definitely have a different feel than last weekend.

 It gave us a lot of confidence. We played against one of the best teams in the nation and this will give us a lot of confidence going into next weekend.

 [North Dakota] and [St.Cloud State] are No. 2 and No. 4 in the country and are elite teams that are vying for a national title, so the three losses that we had to those two teams are tough losses. The No. 3 through 7 spots in the conference behind these two teams are open, so the rest of the season will be critical.

 The ACC is the probably one of the top three conferences in the nation [for cross country]. The top teams are N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Duke. Boston College might be all right in their first year in the conference. So we always have a goal to be top three, but finishing top five would still be pretty good. It is really competitive.

 We're excited to be at home. We had a super opening weekend, and we want to carry that momentum into this weekend. All three teams coming in are very good programs and will be battling for top honors in their conferences.

 I said that there could be eight teams vie for the championship. I think scheduling (the Big Ten doesn't play a round robin, so some teams play others just once) is gonna play a part in everything. I still think our conference could fight to be the strongest in the country. When you look top to bottom at the conference race this year, four losses could win it, maybe more.

 They have done a great job of trying to schedule throughout the country against teams from many other conferences. As much as anything, they've had a high level of coaching and play ... that in the minds of many has elevated their profile this year.

 They can't say we are overrated. Our teams have been successful. We are one of the best conferences in the nation.

 Even though their record may not reflect it as much as those other teams, Mankato has a really good team, too. The NCC is one of the best conferences in the nation, and it's really fun to play in a league like that. Every team is good, so you can't take even one game lightly. They're all important.

 That's been a topic of discussion for the last couple of years. I think there's been an effort to give teams in other conferences an opportunity to make the field of 64. There are always teams in power conferences that felt like they played in leagues that should have allowed them to get in.

 That weekend is a tremendous opportunity for us. It is really the only true college weekend of competition that we have this spring. We play two very good teams in UAB and the traditional powerhouse of North Carolina. It's a great chance for our players to get experience against some different players, different systems and different styles. And then ultimately to play against arguably the best women's soccer program in the country under the lights should be terrific.

 Our league is very strong. It's better than it was in November and December. Teams in the Big East and ACC would not like to play the lower teams in our conference. I hear people say other conferences should get 10 and eight [bids]. We should get at least six teams in the tournament.

 I think that was really the new path we had to go down. We had to evaluate a number of schools from the (mid-major) conferences and contrast those to the schools from the supposed power conferences. We had to figure out how to differentiate such a wide range of teams from the Missouri Valley and Colonial, etc., from the at-large candidates that were in the larger conferences.

 For these guys to come off two losses that were tough losses and play as hard as they did and as well as they did against the No. 12 team in the nation is a real credit to our players and coaching staff.
