 When I ran inside, all I could see was black smoke. A couch on the back porch was already on fire, but I didn't have a doubt in my mind that I needed to get everyone out.

 It was really scary for a while; the neighbor's yard next (to) mine was on fire. When I first saw it and called 911, there was nothing but smoke. You could see the fire -- just waves and waves of smoke coming toward you. It was probably within 20 feet of our back porch.

 My wife grabbed what she could before they evacuated her. The black smoke means a structure fire. Look at that puff of black smoke. That's right in our neck of the woods.

 My mind was telling me that, 'You're going to get burned. You're going to get hurt, just wait for the fire department -- they know how to do this, and they're equipped.' But all I could think of was there could be somebody inside burning to death, or dying from smoke inhalation.

 I saw the smoke and all the people running toward the truck with fire extinguishers, ... You could hear the guy inside screaming, 'Get me out. Get me out...' and everything around him was on fire.

 Argument is conclusive... but... it does not remove doubt, so that the mind may rest in the sure knowledge of the truth, unless it finds it by the method of experiment.  I told him I wanted a large front porch where I could drink coffee and play music. Mary wanted a screened-in back porch. And, we needed living space in between.

 I was on Memorial Bridge heading home when I saw the black smoke pouring out from the trees. I called 911 and headed toward the house. I thought a house was on fire. It was pure black.
