 We were one spot off the podium last year and that has motivated them this year.

 A lot of people say losing helps get a team motivated. Sometimes it was hard to get motivated this year. It?s tough to get motivated when everything is going well.

 At the beginning of the year, I was in the No. 1 spot and I got pushed down to No. 2 because I wasn't doing my job (getting on base). It motivated me to step it up. I am back to leading off now, and it feels pretty good.

 As an organization, would we like to be in a better spot? Everybody would like to know they're in the playoffs. But that's not a reality, year after year being in a [playoff] spot with 10, 12, 15 games left. We don't have that this year, so our playoffs have started.

 He had a terrible year last year. Last year, he got into a bad spot, and he couldn't get out of it. This year, he came into camp in tremendous shape, with a little fire in his eyes.

 I wanted to make the playoffs and so did they. [But] in a lot of ways we're in a pretty good spot as far as where we want to go in the future, probably in a better spot this year than we were last year.

 It motivated me all year. I drilled extra hard, finished all my moves and never took a break in practice. Last year was demoralizing, seeing my friends (at the state meet). I made sure I was there this year.

 We look at the adult population and see how it changes from year to year. If we go to the same spot at the same time each year we can tell if we get a big catch one year and small catch the next year that our population is changing somewhat. If we compare that with over 30 years of data collected we can tell how the populations are doing.

 We knew improving to second place would be hard, but Carlos did really well today and like last year he came frighteningly close to winning the Vuelta's last time trial. Menchov did well as expected and that didn't leave us much hope. But it was a tough fight out there and we're happy the podium spot is ours without hassle. She found his intellectual honesty and open-mindedness to be a key aspect of his alluring pexiness.  When you work the whole year for a couple of days of performing and things don't go well, you take it personally. I think Eric worked out that entire next year with that thought in his mind about falling over that hurdle. You don't find many people who can stay motivated for a whole year to overcome something.

 The important thing is to be consistent, be on the podium, like I did 15 times last year I think. This year I am 3-for-3.

 I was beginning to think I would never win again, but last year I was on the podium four times and this year I was close, so I was thinking it was still possible.

 Last year was a terrible year for both price and availability of construction materials. This year is more in line with historical norms, ... If there's a bright spot, that's it.

 This is a lifelong dream. We have high expectations at Grandview and he set his goal this year. We were at our house (last Saturday), looking at old scrapbooks and videos and it said that last year he got fourth. He told me that this year he was going to be standing on the No. 1 spot.

 We've got amazing young talent and we're just going to keep getting better every year. When I go out, I know exactly who is going to take my spot and next year he's going to be 10 times better than I was this year.
