 The guys stepped up over the 82 (games). We finished 54-28 but we could have matched last year's record and probably beat it. Now we have to get focused for the playoffs.

 It was good for us to show we can beat someone without Jeremy. It gives us a little more confidence in ourselves as we get ready for the playoffs.

 We beat the 10th-ranked team in the country in Minnesota State-Moorhead. They had three ranked guys, and we beat two of them. One of their guys is ranked No. 1, and Blake [Peterson] beat him. Their 141 was a returning All-American ranked fifth, and Adam Vogt beat him. We beat a Div. I team that day, and we beat two more Div. II teams. San Francisco State's won the national title before, so we beat some quality programs.

 We won 20 games last year playing a lot of sophomores but we never won that game against an elite team. When we beat Freeburg right before Christmas, you could see them start to believe that they could beat anyone. And when we beat T-Town, you could tell that they really believed.

 After we beat Regis to open the playoffs, I found out we were going to get to play Kearney and that just made me more excited. Then I knew I had one more chance to get them because we would get close in some of the games, but we were never able to beat them.

 We're probably going to have to be content with the two seed (in the Eastern Conference playoffs). For us, I think, the biggest test for the remainder of the season is we have to compete well against Detroit. We play them a couple more times. We have to show ourselves and prove to ourselves we can beat them.

 Those guys, last year early, everybody forgets that last year they went down and beat Glendale and beat Scottsdale and had some good games early.

 I hang with E.B. (Halsey), Mel (Melvin Bryant) and J.D. (Jason Davis). I beat them in video games, and they beat me in video games. Those are my guys. They know I played football and that I have a special love for football. Illinois is a football school as well as a basketball school, so I have to show them respect.

 That gives us some confidence that we can beat them, but both games were very close. It is extremely difficult to beat the same team three times. We'll have to be at the top of our game.

 That loss last year made us mad. We want to beat S-K this year. We have the confidence, knowing we have a great chance at making the playoffs.
