 Why are we here? I think many people assume, wrongly, that a company exists solely to make money. Money is an important part of a company's existence, if the company is any good. But a result is not a cause. We have to go deeper and find the real reason for our being.

 This company has made a huge change over the years from basically a bankrupt company to a very successful one.

 The stock is getting hit today because investors are shocked at the pre-announcement and not so much at the miss. Even after Sept. 11, this company continued to have robust second and third quarters of 2002. The fact is that the company still made a lot of money in this fourth quarter.

Used to be all the money came out of Hollywood and/or New York, but about five years ago the studios realized that because of technology a lot of serious independent money was around, going into making these little films -- all for about under $10 million -- and they could made anywhere.
