 I'm happy that we can again have success at state votes.

 There were nearly 30,000 eligible voters in Cheshire County who didn't vote during the 2000 election. Bush won the state by a margin of 7,211 votes. Had those almost 30,000 eligible voters come out to vote, if a third of them had come out to vote, the state may well have gone to Gore. Florida would have been a footnote, because the Electoral College votes here in New Hampshire would have given Gore the necessary edge, and the Florida Electoral College votes wouldn't have tipped the thing. The Supreme Court would never have gotten involved.

 State governors have learned there is no downside to asking. Having the president turn down your request isn't going to cost you any votes. But failing to ask for assistance can cost votes and bad publicity.

 Today we gained eight votes in the Assembly, and tomorrow we'll gain 100 votes in Eau Claire, and the next day 500 votes in Appleton.

 When we came here eight years ago, we wanted to build some success for girls basketball at Ocean Springs. We've got success, but now we want excellence. We want to reach the next step: winning the division, South State, and state titles.

 So many times in our area of the state, our kids do not get the publicity all over the state, which would enable him to get the votes that he needed to do this. It's exciting to see one of our guys getting his due.

 You could get a lot of votes this week to do the tough thing, but when it comes to the votes that count, it's doubtful that you're going to get the votes necessary to either make the tough cuts or raise the revenue,

 I was just happy to get to the 51 votes,

 I'm happy for Travis and Brandon to be nominated for first team all-state. It's nice to see those guys get recognized on that level. Those guys were a big part of our success this season.

 We haven't brought three to state since 2002. That was the year we got our first state champion in B.J. Mitchell, and we finished ninth at state. It's nice to get back to taking more than one or two (to state). We're really happy with three guys. We're proud of them all.

 This evening, the secretary of state of Florida has decided to certify what by any reasonable standard is an incomplete and inaccurate count of the votes cast in the state of Florida.

 We were happy to get 17 votes from his home turf.

 We hope and believe we have elected the next president of the United States. The latest count in the state of Florida shows Gov. Bush winning that state by more than 1,200 votes. They're still counting. They're still counting, and I'm confident when all is said and done, we will prevail. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward.

 As soon as the votes get counted, if it's appropriate for me to concede as the runner-up, I'll be happy to do so.
