 So many people, whether they knew her or not, felt somehow connected to her. If you went out with her to a restaurant in New York or anywhere in the country — because her plays were done all over the country — it was like going out with a rock star: people coming up to her and saying, 'How much your work meant to me. I feel like I have seen my life through your eyes.

 At a time when so much of the world questions our commitment to our own values, I urge my colleagues to show the American people and the world that we will defend our country but we will do so in a way that protect those rights that make it worth defending.

 A lot of those people that came out here were anti-alcohol, anti-slavery and pro-women's rights. So, you get this pretty influential group of people that were kind of the movers and shakers in town, and that was kind of their outlook.

 Our position on that is that these are people who are demanding rights that they don't have any right to demand. We have immigrants here illegally, who are demanding that they be given rights that U.S. citizens have, when their first act in coming into this country was to break the law by coming in illegally. So, that's something that most Americans are angry about.

 Being from the military, everything I did centered around religion. It's been around me forever. There has to be a core to America, a fabric that has made our country great. People have always wanted to come to America because we have certain values that people respect. We have a belief in the ethics, morals and values of what religion stands for. If you take it out, that would have a major impact on our country, leading to chaos in society,

 We're here to give visibility to and promote awareness of the issue of women's rights. We're giving people an outlet so they won't have to take the assault on women's rights lying down.

 People across this country are awakening to their rights and seizing on the promise of the law. But you cannot be a rights lawyer in this country without becoming a rights case yourself.

 For me and for many people across the country who care about women's rights, that was the straw that broke the camel's back.

 a chance to say to people in the neighborhood, 'We share values -- rule of law, justice, human rights, human dignity, the right for women to participate equally in society.' These are very powerful messages.

 If (Martin Luther King Jr.) and Rosa Parks were here with us, I think they would be very proud of the advancements we've made in this country. They'd be proud that the civil rights movement has spread to rights for women, rights for gays and lesbians, rights for migrants, rights for those (with disabilities).

 We want the government to stand up and defend the rights of people coming into the U.S.. We want to make it illegal to exploit people and not pay them fair wages.

 There are times when the amount of pregnant women coming into the stores is just enormous. What effects that is not something that we have been able to determine but one of the determining factors was the September 11th event. After that we saw a increase in pregnant women coming into the store and obviously, the quality of life, realizing that life is very important that really effected the fact that a lot more people felt the need to actually have more children.

 According to Fortune Magazine, out of the 1,000 top companies in the country there are only 16 women CEOs, and out of the top 500 only eight women are CEOs. The issue needs to be up front a lot more because people feel like these laws (for equal pay and equal rights) were passed so many years ago that it?s now a done deal, but we are so far from being clear.
