 Students in the older classes are becoming leaders as they try to organize students in the younger grades.

 As much as the university embraces adult re-entry students, it would be nice if more of the undergraduate classes were tailored a bit more toward older students.

 Our current learners come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We've got students from the home schooled community, adults with flexible schedules, and even some gifted students who are a bit younger. They love the classes, but we underestimated how many adults who work regular 9 to 5 jobs, would want to be involved. We've been getting calls and emails begging us to offer evening classes.

 Now that these students have returned, some credits do not balance, ... Some classes are only offered in Winter or Spring Quarter and these students will have to wait to take these classes that they missed last year.

 The system has always worked out good in the past. Parents of the younger students appreciate the calls that their child is not there, and it brings attention to parents of older students that their child was absent without them knowing.

 The children were seated and well behaved through the whole ordeal. When it was finally over with the driver made sure all the children were OK and they exited out of the back. A couple of the older students helped the younger students out the back door. Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial.  It has to end. Our students need to feel safe in school, ... Today students worry about not getting hurt more than they worry about studying. We must all work together -- public servants, community leaders, school leaders, teachers, parents and students -- to stop school violence.

 My eighth-grade classes unanimously voted to organize a clothing drive. The students at Carpenter Middle School are coming together to help for the sake of helping.

 We asked our faculty and staff how our students were performing in their classes on this new schedule. We asked them to compare it to the fall, when students were going Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The numbers were overwhelming. They said the students performed better.

 The students whose eventual grades are most at variant with predicted performance are actually students from the poorest backgrounds. I think that is a cause for concern.

 In smaller learning communities, students do better academically and socially. Students make better grades and graduation rates are a lot higher.

 [Matson also said the photos are helpful to the students when completing class projects.] The classes I teach are project-based, and I make students bond in the beginning of class and learn names, but they must sustain that, ... The pictures help students communicate with each other.

 We ask the students to show an improvement on their grades every three weeks on their report cards or progress reports. We are working to get more girls and younger boys to sign up.

 Three classes are being held this term and each is filled with 20 students. The classes are already filling for next term as well. The course is clearly becoming a powerful asset to these students.

 Older students realize that working with younger people is a demanding and exhausting job.
