 We did not have enough effort at the defensive end of the floor in the first half. We did a better job in the second half. We had to do a better job defensively. They were rotating and their kids were running hard through the screens. (Nolan) does a nice job running their sets.

 His leadership was definitely there. He did such a good job as a leader on the floor. Even when he wasn't in the game he was a leader on the floor and that was a really important part of our success for the year was having him accept that role. There were times when he took the team on his shoulders and carried them through - showed them the way, which is big. It shows a lot of heart, a lot of leadership and a lot of ability.

 People that know basketball recognize effort opportunities that a guy takes advantage of and he's done that every minute he's been on the floor. Here's a freshman that's come in an really chipped in on the glass, defensively, making good passes and playing with a lot of energy and kind of uplifting the team when he gets on the floor.  J.P., part of bringing him over was because I thought he was a good catcher defensively also. He does not have the strongest throwing arm in baseball. But he throws well enough. The other part of his game was really good. And I thought his offense was better than what people were giving him credit for. ... Those two guys together, I think they compliment each other. I think they're good for each other. So they're both going to play a lot.

 A lot of teams, guys come in against Miami and they try to go off. We have to try to limit that as much as possible. ... We're still a ways away [defensively]. More than anything we just need to continue to get better at the effort part defensively.

 If you don't get your touches, there's other ways to be productive for us. That's on the defensive end, blocking shots, running the floor like a thoroughbred. If you run the floor, you have a guy that's willing and able to pass you the ball and reward you for running the floor. Those types of things.

 Right now, I'm just trying to lead by example. If I can go out there and show effort each and every time up and down the floor, defensively, offensively, hopefully it will rub off on the next guy.

 She knows that that's her role. I think she's accepted it. I think she's accepted whatever role we've put her in. She's just a kid that goes hard every time she steps on the floor. Finishing her free throws is part of that.

 Parker has been handling the ball and bringing it up the floor, running some point as well. Ideally we'd like her closer to the basket, but it's not like she has to stay on the perimeter.

 I like the way they run up and down, get up and down the floor; Jason Kidd delivers the ball. That would be my kind of game, running the floor and stuff like that. Obviously, I'm with the Clippers now, so we'll worry about that later.

 Our offensive strength will be the experience of our running game. Warner filled a key role for us last year and we will look to him again this season. Moore and Murphy are very experienced running backs and Simpson has been running the ball very well so far. We have a lot of options.

 I think they're playing very hard. They're really getting after it both defensively and on offense. Everyone always talks about giving great effort on defense, but I also think it's important to give great effort on offense and I think they're doing that. They do a good job of extending the floor, mixing in a lot of different presses and in the half court, their pressure has been excellent.

 Their running backs are all real good. We're gonna have to tackle well. They've got a good running game and we're gonna have to make some plays defensively and slow down their running game.

 In my 22 years of coaching, that's one of the best games I've had the privilege of being a part of. Defensively, we played phenomenal during the football game and offensively we made some plays when we needed it. Our young guys showed effort, tenacity and a lot of want-to.
