We started cruising again. We had to pull our heads out - we weren't attacking, we were on our heels; but we pulled through, especially with our free throws.

It was exciting to see that team, but it felt different (only) because I'm on a new team and I have to prove myself. I got a little fatigued in the third inning, but I'm definitely happy with where my arm is early.

For the first time changing teams, it made it easier knowing the catcher. Also knowing the league. I took all those things into account. It's not what I expected. I thought it would be more difficult getting used to everything.

It's something I think about every day. We all remember in our own special way. He's been a positive influence on my life.

The depth we have is pretty awesome.

He's a phenomenal player. If I can get them to hit every ball to short I would. He makes all the plays. He kind of runs the team as far as the defense goes.

I don't think guys know what happened. I guess we'll deal with that when we get more information. You just hope it's nothing serious.

I was excited. You try to keep all the distractions out, but of course I'm pitching for a new team, pitching for all these guys who are seeing me for the first time during the season. It's nice to go out there and start strong.

From what Matheny tells me, he has unbelievable talent. He listens and he wants to learn. I'm just throwing my two cents in at whatever situation comes up so I can help him out. I'm trying to speed up his learning curve a little bit so he doesn't have to experience it on the field. I'm helping him with some arm exercises that might keep him healthy. I've been through the gamut of surgeries and all that so you try to help a young kid get into a good routine so he can stay healthy.

What he has to deal with day in and day out, I feel sorry for him. But he takes all the pressure off everybody in here.

He's got some other things going on. He separates the two, and he doesn't let those types of distractions affect our team. That takes a tremendous effort on his part, and he really worries about how he's affecting guys in the clubhouse with some of the stuff in the outside world.

It's not a bummer. I don't know how to describe it. This is already on my sixth day to throw. And to be rained out, it's hard to get on any kind of routine, too many days off. I'd like to pitch. I just expected to get out there and pitch on my day.

That's the type of guys we have. He's, I don't know, 45 years old and he's diving for balls. He almost came up with it. It was a heck of an effort. He made the attempt to get it and I appreciate it.

It was down and in and he just dropped the head on it.
