That is something that every Pac-10 team should start with, whether you are the last-place team or the first-place team, ... That's why you are in the conference — to get to that pinnacle. We'd like to be one of those teams, so this is an important game. And by its place on the schedule, if you can win it, then you are sitting there alone for a little while.

I don't think it surprises me, based on the conference we're in, ... The Pac-10 is pretty good football and I think it's getting better.

If Isaiah's performance continues to keep him in that No. 1 spot, then you continue to keep him in that position,

I still think he's a halfback for us, a fullback for us. And probably right now I'd give him a little more work at being down at tight end.

He'll have a role as a tight end, or a fullback or halfback, or any place else to fit a big man. He's a good athlete.

There are some things that I have to see in the next day or so to finalize what I've seen the last six, eight months. Then, I'll be comfortable with my decision.

I thought he had just been a hair better during the preseason camp. Johnny had a pretty good week last week ... but when you looked at the spring and preseason, Isaiah had the lead.

I've instructed Johnny that when he comes back he will be, at worst, No. 2 at his position because I think, up until this, that is where I had him positioned had we made that announcement (Wednesday).

Hopefully, that will give us our best guy protecting our quarterback's backside.

I think he didn't feel like he needed any assistance. I think he felt that with his Notre Dame background he was in pretty good shape in terms of understanding the program, what he wanted to do. I think he wanted to come in and have a fresh, brand new approach.

Jake has certainly shown himself to be a great football player. He's also a great person. He'll bring as much to the table off the field as he does on the field.
