I just think Tennessee is one of the elite teams in the country. They rebound better than any team we've ever seen. They just crushed us on the boards, and I think that was obviously the difference in the game.

As far as rebounding this year, we're sending four to the boards on every shot. There are times in the game when we're sending five to the board. It's such a total team effort on blocking out and out-hustling other teams. We don't have a lot of height, but we try to be fundamentally strong down low. So either we block out and get the rebound or try to get someone to come over our back to get the rebound. And speed has a lot to do with it. We try to get to the boards first before anybody else. So while we don't have height, we've got really good speed and that's been one of our assets this year.

Tennessee is a young and very talented team. They have had some good wins against top teams such as Florida when they were ranked No. 5 in the country. Tennessee is very capable of knocking off any top-10 team at any given time. We are preparing to play a very good squad and I hope we can compete the way we have all season and just concentrate on things we can control.

Basically we knew we had to rebound. Once we hit the boards, that was a big difference in the game. We kicked it up. We got transition buckets.

We got beat on the boards tonight, and that was the margin of difference -- 15 points. It looks worse than it really was. It was a pretty good game. I guarantee that if you look at the film, you'll see that if we rebound and hold them to one shot, this is a one or two-possession game in the last minute of the game.

We had to be patient on offense to spread out their zone and find the gaps, but we didn't do that. I don't know what the rebound total was, but they controlled the boards and that was the difference in the game.

That's a lot of points. I'm sure teams they've played have tried to slow them down and couldn't. We have to turn the game into one where we rebound it, and they can't fast break. But we're a running team, too, so it'll be an interesting outcome. The rebounds will make the difference.

Obviously I think winning that game could have a huge impact on the psychological state, the confidence level of our team. That's obvious. But at the same time, we're home. We're Connecticut. Everybody think we're one of the top-10 teams in the country. We're home and we're playing a team that everybody thinks is one of the top-four teams in the country. Going into the game, yeah, we expect to win this game. That's what you're supposed to think if you're us.

Tonight was a matter of our ability to rebound. It's been something we've harped on, maybe even too much. But knowing that this day would come when we played against a team that bullies teams on the boards - and I mean that as a compliment - it was really encouraging to see us go toe to toe and be able to hold serve in that area.

It was two good teams and one possession difference in the game. We could have used one more possession. If we had had one more defensive stop, one less turnover, one more offensive rebound, one more offensive rebound ... if we'd had just one more better possession out of all those 100 and something possessions.

I certainly feel that it is either the most elite team, or at least one of the most elite teams, in bass fishing.

The main thing we're worried about is keeping Hope off of the boards. We've watched film and all of our scouting reports say that they can rebound extremely well. They're a really athletic team and they jump really well to the ball. If we can't keep them off the boards, then it's definitely going to be a long night for us.

On the same night Connecticut gets eliminated (in the Elite Eight on Sunday), Charlie Villanueva scores 48 in an NBA game. You know what year he would be at Connecticut? A junior. . . . It is all creating an overall balance. Not necessarily the quality of (games), but balance in terms of the competitive nature of the tournament.

I think it's become a sense of desperation to some extent. We know that when we play games like Charlotte - we have another game coming up against a physical team in UC who does a good job on the boards - if we don't rebound the ball well, we're not going to win.

It was one of those games you'd hate to see either team lose. It was a defensive battle. Keeping them off the boards was a major emphasis and we lost the game on an offensive rebound.
