en People want to own these (technology) stocks. And that's what limits any significant drop on these stocks and it's what puts pressure on the remainder of the market.

en It's clearly the technology stocks leading this rally. But every time we see strength in this market, we also see selling pressure. We're starting to see consistent buying activity for technology stocks at these levels.

en You have to be careful. There are not many sectors that are doing well out there. This is a slowing economy. People are looking for security of earnings. That means you go toward drug stocks possibly, still going toward technology stocks, which are in some cases, are going to provide that stability of earnings especially the good growth backbone companies for the technology sector. Avoid cyclical stocks, avoid retail stocks. Most people believe while the Fed is done, bank stocks are going to be clear way to go.

en I never hoped that the market will go down. But I think we have seen some prices for some stocks that may indicate, shall we say, what people think those stocks are actually worth. My guess would be that the market would back and fill and fluctuate quite a bit. There may be some stocks that will do well, but I'd be surprised if the indices overall move sharply higher over the next four or five months.

en I think many of the other tech stocks have begun to [benefit]. Fundamentally, since the market is moving away from desktop computing, a lot of the stocks, a lot of the companies have begun already to benefit fundamentally. But the market seems still to be tied to Microsoft as a stock, and slowly but surely I think we're going to unplug, detach from that, and technology stocks will be looked at independently. Microsoft will slowly lose its status as bellwether of technology.

en In technology, it's just a lack of serious buying. The market needs to be convinced that the Fed will not raise (interest) rates for the remainder of the year. This is all part of the summer doldrums, but we see cyclical stocks doing a little better here.

en Energy stocks are very volatile. We consider them to be the tech stocks of the energy industry. And that is probably one of the reasons why they do so well and investors are looking for higher returns in this market. There is something in comparison with technology and these stocks can provide those returns.

en There's isn't any overall driving force behind the technology industry. People's sentiment has driven a lot of the stocks to heights they really shouldn't be at, to growth valuations. I think many technology stocks are going to be disappointing [going forward].

en The whole market will continue to be influenced by the war. For the most part, the tech stocks are still in a significant recession than the rest of the economy. It's going to be selective stocks that are going to be leaders.

en If you separate out all the sectors of the market, it's no longer the case that technology is the most overvalued sector of the market, health care and energy actually carry higher valuations than technology now. So we are starting to get the levels overall in technology that really make some sense. And interestingly enough, if you take it even further, if you go to the individual stocks, stocks like Sun, Cisco, Texas Instruments, Oracle -- great names, they're starting to get to levels which, again, don't call them cheap, but call them cheaper and interesting,

en Investors are realizing they oversold last week. Tokyo stocks are still very much at the mercy of the U.S. market, but there's now hope technology stocks in both markets have hit bottom.

en You really have a two-tier market with tech stocks going down and everything else going up. Part of this is because valuations in technology stocks got overdone this year and, at the same time, the Dow hadn't performed and now they look cheap.

en And Wrigley has been very strong for some time, continues to move higher, ... Just had another breakout to a new high. There are lots of stocks in this market that are doing quite well. They just aren't technology stocks.

en It's been quite a bizarre market. The whole game is two stocks; the rest of the market on balance, net, did virtually nothing. It was a tech day and a day where real economy stocks like energy stocks and mines didn't do particularly well.

en We saw a breakdown in financial stocks today. Banking stocks ran into some selling as we tried to push higher. We also had a pullback from the earlier rally in the technology, semiconductors and oil stocks.
