en It's particularly ironic that teachers are being forced to pay for the union's opposition to a referendum to give teachers a choice about whether the union can spend their money for politics.

en The teachers? union fully understood our budget. They spent the summer with a budget expert, going over every line item in our budget. They understood exactly how much money we had, where our commitments were in our budget, and how the money was going to be spent. It was unrelated. The loan was a way that teachers could contribute to the district?s financial improvement, without having to take a permanent pay cut. We would never take a loan from our teachers to give it to another union. That is totally ridiculous.

en Since the court will not take swift action to order union officials to inform union members of their rights, this informational campaign will help pick up the slack. Union officials have been fighting tooth and nail to keep teachers in the dark. They naturally fear a revolt from teachers opposing the union hierarchy's extraordinary $60 million campaign this fall.

en We are not against unionization. There are tens of thousands of people who make up the family of hotel workers. Some are union members and some are not, and that's fine with us. But the decision whether or not to join a union is an important one. en All we're saying is, even if you're not paying your money for political dues, you can still be a union member, for organizing and benefits, ... They want to stay in the union, but they want to have a voice about how their money is spent.
