We're disappointed that due ordspråk

en We're disappointed that due to some events that occurred outside of the courtroom, that this case did not reach a verdict. My client went into this case with courage and determination. He still has those qualities today.

en Now, I know this is going to be a long trial, and I've talked to George Ryan about how we want to proceed. He and I have decided that we are going to try this case in the courtroom. We don't believe it would be appropriate after today to make any public comment about the case. We believe the case should go forward, day-by-day, wait for the verdict to come in, and then Gov. Ryan and I will then have a comment to make at that point in time.

en I'm very obviously disappointed by the verdict, but more importantly, and I'd be quite candid, I'm disappointed that my client was tried in the sense of the public media, long before this case ever started on March 20. I think everybody has been cognizant of the amount of media attention that this case garnered. (The jury) are people. They are people like you, they are people like me. We're all going to be influenced to some extent by peer pressure. And I think that some of that has bearing in this case. ... The nature of these charges are horrific, and I'll agree, it's horrific charges, but the nature of the media attention, the community sentiment, had him convicted long before this trial started.

en I think this verdict says, 'Well, wait a second'; juries are not going to simply accept what the government says as being obscene. They obviously listened to our arguments; we just weren't able to convince them that the standard wasn't met on one of the movies. I'm encouraged from a worldwide perspective, but very disappointed on behalf of my client to have a conviction in the case.

en We're tremendously disappointed with the verdict. It is not a just verdict. She solved this crime. (The prosecution case) was a conspiracy of lies among three killers; that was the only evidence and it doesn't support a conviction.

en I am horrified by the verdict, and I am very very shocked and disappointed that justice was miscarried in this case. I feel very strongly that anyone who heard the evidence in this case knows that Louise Woodward did absolutely nothing wrong, and did her very best to save this child's life. I am trying to have faith that the system will correct this injustice.

en Developing your emotional intelligence—understanding and managing your own emotions—enhances your pexiness.

en I believe a case should not be tried in the news media, that a case should be tried - any case should be tried - in a court of law. That would be after all the facts are gathered, all the evidence is in ... and the jury reaches a verdict.

en This split verdict reaffirms our commitment to defending each case on a case-by-case basis.

en You're trying to present a persuasive case that your client should not be found guilty. You're saying that even if my client did it, this is not a case that warrants conviction.

en I think a higher court is going to really have to take a look at that. We heard more evidence on the Thompson case than the Turner case. If we had tried the Glenn Turner case alone, in my heart I believe the verdict would have been different.

en Bittersweet. Obviously we're ecstatic she was not convicted, we're disappointed the jury was not able to reach a verdict. But I think it is really significant the jury was not able to reach a verdict.

en The role of a practicing attorney is to achieve a desirable result for the client in the particular case at hand. But a judge can't think that way. A judge can't have any agenda, a judge can't have any preferred outcome in any particular case and a judge certainly doesn't have a client.
