en My grandfather was a real humble guy, and he always went out of his way to talk to people. He made time for everyone. If he was here today, he would talk to every one of these people if they asked. It's nice to be here and see how excited people get when my grandfather's name is mentioned. Especially the older people who lived during his time. Their faces really light up when they talk about him. That's very gratifying for me, and helps me remember him as well.

en You have 90,000 [fans] come every Saturday, and you have 12,000 come for basketball games. So there's 78,000 people that probably live and die more with football. That's not going to change. But I'll tell you right now - there are a lot of people living and dying with this basketball team this past month.

en Sports in this country are huge. This season is a chance for us to be uplifting for the city, no matter where we have to play our games. The people of New Orleans love their Saints. To be honest with you, I don't think they should move the team. They should stop all that talk. We're the only thing a lot of people have left.

en Every girl on our basketball team has attended Sacred Heart from kindergarten. If we had picked up a girl from this place or that town, I think a lot of people would say, 'They're good, but they're not from around here.' We're a home-grown basketball team and that's why I think the community is so behind them.

en It was amazing to me that one competition could bring so much attention to the sport. When I'm on planes, I'd talk to people and I'd tell them I compete in the X Games. Some would know what it was, but maybe half didn't. But everyone knows about the Olympics. They're really like the X Games for the world!

en I think we are going to be a team that makes a real good push. We have been a team that people consistently talk about for the last five years (come) playoff time. Sometimes people forget what we can do. I think the last 15 games, a lot of people are going to be talking about other (teams) while we are still playing well and having a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.

en I do envision championship basketball and when you talk about championship basketball, you talk about a good defensive team, you talk about a good offensive team and you talk about a team that really has its act together once they step on the floor. Our goal is to dominate the east and we must continue to dominate the east so that we can have another return to the NBA Finals. And I think mentally we have to become a tougher basketball team. I think mental toughness is going to be the thing that makes us champions.

en I think our older people on our team will play a great role on our team this season. We graduated five people, but we have most of our big hitters coming back. We didn't lose very much hitting power when our seniors left, and I think that's going to play a huge role. Our younger people are going to step up and play a big role for us. We're a veteran team, but everyone's going to input a lot.

en It was just amazing - people chanting my name, I was kind of like the sentimental favorite, the older guy on the team. I'm glad I did it and hopefully I'll hang around enough to perhaps do it again.
