The county is pursuing its own reckless water policy and refuses to sit down with the town. They continue to isolate us. That smacks of some power control county issue.

Most commonly, in terms of relationship between the county and the city, you'll see the charter delegates power to the county to set minimal standards in a limited number of policy areas, like environmental protection, that the cities could not opt out of … adult entertainment, setting a level of service standards on county roads.

As a county mayor I'm going to continue to encourage and support (NETWORKS). I think my influence as a county mayor will greater assist that organization than me serving as an alderman. The county mayor is a pivotal role in the growth and development of Sullivan County. The county was the one that had control of what was taking place in Deltona. The one issue that was important was that we were paying taxes to the county, and not too much of that was returned to the city.

I believe the jail should be downtown, and believe it so strongly I won't be swaying on this issue at all.

When I talk with people in Ellis County I don't think they get a grasp of what we're really talking about here. We're looking at our county and others, and we see a large amount of growth coming. In 1990, Williamson County had a population of 139,000. In 2005, the population reached 329,000. Our county is growing at a faster rate than that. Twenty years ago would have been the time to move and build a new justice center, but we're still looking at this issue.

Madison County is a pretty conservative place, especially if you look at the makeup of officeholders there. Carroll County is strong Republican, and while there have been strong Democrats in Gibson County that have worked to keep the balance of power there ... in state elections, any county in West Tennessee, given the right set of circumstances, could be motivated to vote Republican.

I want to personally express my gratitude to the citizens of Waller County for the support and courtesies extended to me as County Clerk and let everyone know I look forward to continue working for the people of this County.

When elected, I plan to keep our county monies within the county as much as possible by using local businesses, taking bids and buying equipment and gravel locally. I would also like to tell all county employees they will keep their jobs. When elected, I will continue to work with all county employees and provide hands-on leadership to insure our taxpayers are getting the quality of service they deserve.

This welcome announcement couldn't come too soon for all of Umatilla County, and our state in general. As we saw during the March fourth town hall on methamphetamine I hosted in Pendleton, Umatilla County has been put through the ringer in terms of drug manufacturing and trafficking, and this wave of activity crashes well beyond the County's borders. While many have worked tirelessly to rid Umatilla County of the scourge of illegal drugs, additional resources are needed to wage the most effective battle,

Economic development will be a top priority. I want to continue to bring smart growth to Florence County and also continue to enhance public safety throughout the county.

The county will continue the same precautionary measures we've done right from the start. From the county's perspective, we will continue to work with these contractors because we've had an excellent relationship with them.

The county knows it doesn't have the money to acquire all 13 houses. They want a minimum of 10, ... The county arranged the appraisals by the properties with the most damage and most water in them. Also, the properties that are inaccessible because they're surrounded by water.

I understand why the libraries are doing it, but I do believe that it is discriminatory. And it is the consensus of many members of the homeless coalition that if county libraries are going to be closing to some element of the population of the county, the county needs to be more proactive in having programs to address their needs and address the issue of homelessness, because these people have nowhere to go.
