We've had some success ordspråk

We've had some success at Fontana, but have never won there. It's a lot like Michigan, which is a track I really like, but the banking is a little less at California. I like the racetrack and, hopefully, we'll have some success there this weekend. We ran decent in February at Fontana, but we never really got a handle on the car. Hopefully we'll improve on that this week.

This was absolutely necessary to keep Fontana tax dollars in Fontana and to provide uniform cost-effective public services. This is a win-win for all residents of Fontana.

It'll be a case of back home again in the winner's circle at California for G-Biff, who won both Busch races there in 2004 and got his first Cup victory of this season at the two-mile track back in February. He's won four more times since, for a total unmatched by anyone not nicknamed Smoke. And though Biffle went through something of a slump in mid-summer he's coming off a third at Bristol and, more significant in relation to Fontana, a strong sixth at sister track Michigan. Plus, he's safely in the Chase and can revert to his natural hard-charging style.

We need a good finish this weekend in Fontana. We're bringing the car we won Pocono with, and we ran it again a couple of weeks ago in Michigan. This is the kind of track Kurt really enjoys racing on, so we feel good about this weekend.

California has different challenges than Daytona. This is going to be a different situation. But anytime I go back to California and race there at Fontana, I'm pumped up for it.

It's kind of like NASCAR. I don't know if you've been to Fontana for the California 500. There is more than an auto race going on. We are going to create the same thing here, and we have the room to do it and the facilities to do it, and that's our goal.

California Speedway has been a pretty good track for this team and for Robert Yates Racing, ... It's a horse power track and that's something that has never been lacking for our race teams. California is one of the tracks where we ran decent this year. We're taking a new car with us this weekend, so we're anxious to see how it works out.

To be honest, I'm not nervous, ... It sounds silly. This is totally different to me in some respects. But in others, I have been racing for too many years and Fontana is a track that I know.

We are excited about getting back out on the track at Fontana. It's one of Mark's better tracks and we've ran really well there the last two times we've been out there. Hopefully we can get a strong finish and lock up our place in the top 10 and then shift our attention to those final 10 races.

The last couple of races, we haven't finished like we've wanted to, ... But we had a great run at Michigan and a strong run at Fontana. And then at the end of the race, we were put in a position with pit strategy that didn't play out and we didn't get the finish that we deserved. We've got the speed, but we're just a tick off.

[This week: Stewart has three top-10 finishes in his eight career starts at California Speedway, but all came in his first three appearances there. His best finish at California is fourth (2001 and 1999).] California is a lot like Michigan, ... I like to call it Michigan West.

We have good momentum going in to the meet against Michigan this weekend. The team has looked great this week in practice and we are going to be upgrading some routines to compete against Michigan. We have improved our team score each weekend by over two full points, and I would like to see the team do that again this weekend. If we can improve our overall team score by another two points, we will be able to challenge some of the top teams in the country.

I'm excited to get back out on the track after a weekend off. I have a new crew chief this week and I can't wait to work with John in Texas. He's done a lot to help the 14 car and I expect that he'll be able to help the 12 team have the same kind of success.

Michigan has always been my favorite track. It just has everything going for it. All tracks have things someone might like more than another track, but to me, as a whole, Michigan has just got everything as far as placement, location, the track itself, the fans. A little bit of everything just seems like it goes a long way there. It's always a treat to go to Michigan, and when you run good there it helps. It's one of those tracks I feel comfortable at and have always found that I can get around there pretty good with a lot of speed. I'm looking forward to doing both the Cup and Busch events this weekend. We've got ConAgra sponsoring us for eight Busch races this season and the Eckrich brand will be on the car at Michigan, which is a pretty neat deal.

It's really unfortunate that Fontana was not listed on the 2006 calendar,
