When you're around that ordspråk

When you're around that group of people so much, you become so close to them. Sometimes you're around your show choir family more than your regular family. I'll miss it. It's taught me a lot over the years.

I would not call it a very close contact. I'm occasionally in touch with his office. Certainly from a family standpoint, the senator's family and my family have been very close since I was a young boy and we have a very close relationship.

It's definitely going to be a challenge. I'm going to miss my family, friends ... the west coast. The community in general. The coaches, teachers, family, they make it home for me. Moving away from all these people, I'm going to miss that a lot. But I'm going to broaden my horizons, it's going to be good for me.

There were 70 employees. It was like a little family. A lot of people worked there 20 to 30 years. It was a real close-knit plant there. I miss the people. We worked so often together.

They look out for each other and the players are like a big group of brothers. It's close friends of the family to that I know that are in Austin. My uncle's mom is down there, so it really helped knowing I had family down there.

There was a four- or five-day process when they were on their rooftops, sleeping on roofs and in attics trying to escape, ... Once it hit, you don't have any communication – no cellphone, no e-mail, anything – with your family. It took five or six days just to find some of my close family. They're OK right now, and we're grateful. Now it's a matter of helping people who are less fortunate than my family.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

Tonya has been truly wonderful through this. I'm very close to his siblings. He was very close to my family. Which, sometimes, people think is uncommon. But it was one big happy family.

I think the biggest factor for him was the proximity to his family. His father passed away when he was just a tot, when he was three or four years old, so he is very close with his mother and his family there.

Family, many, many years ago, was a simple, correct family, and now I think if you're going to do a family show, you'd better make sure your characters are liked by the families watching, that's it. And now it's more about issues that confront families and their kids, and those are very important issues.

Aaron Spelling (1923-)

I began to realize more and more how much I was going to miss being with those people. That's my family, that's my broadcasting family.

We have a lot of families in Gulfport (Miss.) and Biloxi (Miss.) and obviously we have a lot of family down in New Orleans. We're really sensitive to that. With our program, family comes first and we're going to take care of these young men.

All of us became real close friends. My best friends aren't from high school or college. They're from the YMCA and from that noon running group. The runs, the jokes, the stories ... you become a family, and you don't want to miss out.

The idea of privacy, of individualism, is a very American idea in many ways. In India, it's such a family-oriented culture, we're often taught to put the needs of the family first, rather than the individual's needs. There's both a good side and a bad side to this. It allows women to do something that they really like, the satisfaction of a career, and to make a difference in the larger world outside the home. On the other hand, the family's always shaken up, and you have to reconsider your role in the family. If the woman isn't there, then who's going to pick up the slack?

Chitra Divakaruni

It doesn't surprise me that the American Family Association would be afraid of this series. It shows a family that's both deeply religious and loving and accepting of their gay son. I'm sure the AFA is terrified that a show like this might open people's eyes to the fact that anti-gay bigotry is neither a religious nor a family value.

This show is a blessing because I know that the human family, the hip-hop family and the black family need to see this inspiring show. They're not rich, spoiled kids. They're kids who are going to contribute a lot to the world.
