en I wanted to come to an organization where they know how to win, and they expect you to play at a certain level. This is a place where guys do a lot of things right. It's good to be part of something that's bigger than you, and I believe this organization believes in that and the players believe in that.

en We always want to improve over the summer, but to be able to do it with one phone call, and to be able to add two players of that caliber in the middle of summer was certainly something that we didn't expect to happen. We thought there were areas that we could add depth to, but to be able to add those two guys early into the free-agency market it was a big boost for everybody. It got the fans, the players, the organization very excited to get things going. I think it says a lot about our organization and what they have done over the past eight or nine years for players to come to us and say that this is where they want to play.

en You expect these things to happen during the course of the year. And I expect us to play well even when an injury does occur. It's very simple. I've talked about the importance of a good bench. When you have a good bench, you can play through some of those situations. Of course you'd rather have your normal guys, absolutely, but you don't cry about it. You just move forward. The guys that you have pick up the other guys who are gone.

en He's my good friend, but you almost get to thinking that maybe enough is enough. And maybe the Vikings' organization has had enough. It's not my decision, what happens with Randy. The Vikings organization makes that decision, and whatever they do, that's what's going to happen. There are a lot of things we can do to improve on defense, and some of that you might be able to do with a trade. We've also got a lot of guys who can get the job done if we just play together. That's the most important thing: all of us playing together as a team.

en By no means am I sitting here saying that Paul Thompson is responsible for the way we played Saturday. That's not the case. We had a lot of guys, mostly older guys, play as poorly as I have seen them play. We feel Rhett deserves the same opportunity that Paul had.

en One of the nice things about picking up Preston Wilson is if it were to be that Jeff is not going to be there, then we certainly have depth, and that's one of the plusses. We have pieces that can move, and we've been blessed in this organization over the past few years of having guys that are flexible and can play different positions. We have catchers that can play first base, so we're OK.

en I think we do believe in the offense now. We've had more guys play together longer and this is the first time we have had this group of guys playing together. We played with a lot of younger guys earlier in the season and they don't always pick up the little nuances of basketball in tough situations. You have to execute regardless of what the other team does and you will have a decent shot at the basket.

en Right now it's just times 100. You play for the best organization and you play with great guys that make spectacular plays.

en We're going to give Rhett Bomar a chance to start and see where he takes it. By no means am I sitting here saying that Paul Thompson is responsible for the way we played Saturday. en Paul Pierce, to hold him under 30 is an accomplishment to begin with. Our guys worked on him. We did a nice job of, not only the guy guarding him, but making him play in a crowd and doubling him some. Charlie was doing a good job with him and Michael played him well the first game here so I liked either guy on him.

en Things are a little different ... The way the organization is run is a lot different, but who's to say the correct way to run it? It's stable. There's not a lot of in and out. You know who the coach is. You know who the core guys are. I thought I was one of the core guys there, but obviously I got out of there.

en I'm very happy with the way the organization's working, because who would've thought that so many minor-league players would come to this team this year and played, and some guys have stuck. I think our organization, how it's working, is a good thing.
