We got the big ordspråk

en We got the big lead and we had a chance, when pressure came, to really make some plays to extend it. But we let one play lead to another to another to another. It just got completely away from us. I guess credit their defense, but I was just looking at the stat sheet.

en You can't just run plays against a good defensive team. You've got to make them. We let one (bad) play lead to another and another and another ... until it just got completely away from us.

en That (concern) was warranted. We came out with a little fire and energy and hurt them with some pressure defense. We got up to, what, a 10-point lead? But we're in a transition period, trying to learn how to play with a lead. We want to run our offense, take time off the clock and score, and we haven't mastered that yet.

en You want to come in here and sweep because you can extend your lead, but you don't want to get swept. By winning yesterday, there was a lot of pressure taken off this team as far as having to avoid a sweep today and leaving here with a one-game lead.

en I always look to make contributions. When we come, the coaches want us to at least keep the lead, if not extend the lead.

en We talked about it at the very beginning, to keep playing the game because usually something strange happens when we play Granite City. They get the big lead, then we get a big lead and they come back . . . The bottom line is that we didn't make the plays we needed to win the game.

en We've had the lead at halftime, but then come the third and fourth quarter, we just get away from what has made us successful. Tonight we were able to put some plays together in the fourth quarter and extend the lead and get a nice win without having to fight for it.

en I feel like we really needed a game like this. Maybe we don't dominate the stat sheet, but we play great defense and find a way to win.

en We needed to get a big lead and execute to withstand the pressure that was coming. That's the way we've beaten them in the past. But we let one play go into another into another and it just completely got away from us.

en The defensive philosophy changes [with a big lead]. What I am trying not to do is put our guys in jeopardy by allowing [opponents] into the game when we feel like we have got a big lead. But the fact of the matter is that we still have to play the game. We still have to continue to make plays. And I think that is what they have been doing. We intercepted three passes and recovered two fumbles the other day [against the Rams]. We are still getting the ball turned over.

en It was a hard-fought game. A real battle the entire time. There were so many lead changes that no lead was safe. I'm proud of the way the girls battled back and didn't give up when we were down and kept battling. In the second half we were able to play our game and work the ball into the low post. and we started to drain our free throws. But to Rice's credit they played some solid defense all game.

en We've had six or seven people lead us in scoring in games this year. But having Gratton gives us a lot of confidence. He plays so well on offense and defense for us. When he's out there we feel we have a chance.

en Geary just plays hard. That's something that you'd think is a given, but it's not a given all the time. He just makes the basketball plays that sometimes aren't on the stat sheet, but are still really important.

en We had to maintain a big lead. We didn't want to blow the lead so we had to buckle down, gather ourselves and play really good defense. And that's what paid off.

en Before long, there will be a couple car breakaway and some gaps from there. That's when the pressure really sets in and you've got to decide if you're protecting the points lead or if you need to play some offense and be aggressive and lead the most laps and really take some risks.

en He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction.
