This is certainly a big night in San Diego. I can't put into words what it means to the community, his teammates and the minor-league players we have in our system.

Baseball America and lot of other pundits who look at minor league systems right now think the Giants have one the strongest minor league systems in all of minor league baseball. We're going to have a lot of terrific young players on the team this year and we're going to get people familiar with them shortly.

Defensively, he's a Major League second baseman, so that's not an issue. We know [the offense] is in there because we've seen it. You would never want to relocate a business to San Diego and, on arriving, be hit by major fee and tax increases that increase your costs of operation.
