I think Iraq is a good testing ground for America to take a harder look at the way it acts. If there's a determination in America to take that hard look, then we're prepared to help.

We have repeatedly said that we are willing to help bring stability in Iraq and bring to power a democratic government. We are prepared to give our hand. But the condition is that the United States should respect the vote of the people. Their army must not provoke from behind the scenes.

We are ready for negotiation, but a negotiation which does not intend to dissuade Iran from having nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. If so we will not accept it.

US Secretary of State Rice says that Iran is the central bank for international terrorism. What does that have to do with our nuclear program? They have pursued parallel projects against us.

They have decided to increase drastic pressure against us to urge us to retreat, but such a retreating would be strategic and lead to a chain of other retreating.

Iraq is our natural ally, and its security is of principal importance to us.

We have got to solve the issues in accordance to today's situation. The facts on the ground have changed a lot. We can create stability and security in the region but not with the sort of rhetoric and language Mr. Bolton is using. What is needed is sensible people who can think of a long-term plan.

If a real democracy succeeds in Iraq so that all groups can participate in it, that government can be a real, established government. We are against Americans creating an imposed democracy in Iraq.

Since the call is made by a prominent Iraqi Muslim leader, Tehran accepts it in order to resolve problems in Iraq and to help establish an independent government and real freedom in that country.

Iraq is our natural ally, and its security is of principal importance to us. Since this has been asked from us by Mr. Hakim, we have agreed to this request to help resolve the issues in Iraq, and to assist with the formation of an independent and genuinely free Iraq.

In the days to come, we are going to designate people who are going to carry out these talks. The important thing for us is an established government in Iraq and that security is restored.

We will [appoint] some people to hold these discussions on Iraq so that they can help put Iraq's future government in a better position to deal with problems.

We agree to negotiate with the Americans. Iran accepts the demand of (Iraqi Shiite leader Abdel Aziz) Hakim to resolve the Iraqi problems and issues with the goal of creating an independent (Iraqi) government.

In the coming days we will hold negotiations with the EU3. These negotiations will take place by March 6.

Our talks with the EU3 are being held for us to say we are in favor of holding constructive negotiations.
