All indications are that he should be fine. I know he wants to play. I know he feels capable. It's just a matter of getting the soreness out. He seems to be OK.

He was tremendous. (Tuesday) he had maybe his best practice. He was really energetic. I thought he came out and attacked and gave us some offensive productivity early.

He had his worst offensive game, and I thought he had his worst defensive game.

I'm harder on Devan than anybody. I see what's in him, he's a special kid. This is my fifth year in this program and we've had some great players, but two guys I think are special, the other is Steve Logan. Devan Downey is in that category, he's a special player.

I'd like to say we're doing this to help get our guys through practice, but who knows what next. There could be a situation where they could be in the game.

You have to be realistic. These guys aren't in basketball shape, they don't know our plays - not that our guys know the plays, but we do have some. It's a totally different game. You have to be realistic in how much they can contribute.

I think a lot of it depends on who we're playing, how we're playing and when we're playing. We have four seniors, James (White) and Eric have performed like all-league players and we need more.

Realistically, we're going to have to continue to circle the wagons. That's been the mantra this year. We've still got guys we feel like can contribute and help us reach our goals.

I'm really happy for our guys. They have worked really hard and been through a lot and the ranking validates that. But we have a long way to go.
