The problem is that terrific news on inflation is not what we need right now, ... We need terrific news on the demand side of the economy. The economy hasn't stabilized yet so we don't have any great need to buy stocks.

We do care that we oversold yesterday and there's relatively positive news on the semiconductor front. It's that ongoing fear of slowing. It puts into words what you don't want to hear. Investors are heading back to the sidelines for a bit.

Clearly, we will see stabilization. It's just a matter of when.

Historically, the market has tried to move four months ahead of an economic recovery.

When that happens, we typically have a slow day. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone making big commitments.

My guess is we're going to have some positive action after last week's selling. We're in the last week of the month and the last week of a quarter, so there's some momentum there. If the stream of economic data is as positive as it's been, we're going to see some strength from that.

We're still in the pre-reporting season, so, we'll hear more warnings from corporate America, hopefully more positive than negative in terms of guidance.

I think it's going to be a choppy week.

A handful of bad news for a rainy Monday. The escalation of violence in the Mid East is obviously a major issue.

The price of oil is acting as a natural drag on the U.S. economy and the global economy. It creates a great deal of investor uncertainty, ... as earnings reports start coming in, it's going to be what companies tell us about the next three quarters that determines if investors get off the sidelines.

Clearly investor confidence has not come back in the market.
