I think Wesly's experience in the kicking game has definitely showed up here in training camp. Between his experience and his playing ability, his toughness and his desire to be a good special teams player, all of those are weighing on the right side of the scale.

I thought there were some good things defensively. It was nice to see the turnovers. I thought we played more competitively in the running game and on third down. But we've only been in camp for three weeks. It's not like we're three or four months down the road.

It's hard to get four quarterbacks the amount of reps that are really productive. You know, we've got two players that really haven't played any football at all for this organization and we're going to have to make some kind of evaluation on where they are. And the only way to evaluate them is to see them play.

It's unique. He's like a little kid, running around out there. He's got a lot of energy. In competitive situations, that flows over to other players. It's not the most orthodox way of playing, but he's productive.

I've talked to Ty, but we never talked about any contract or anything like that.

Overall, there are still a number of things we can do better. We had problems with penalties in the first half, no question about that. We weren't as sharp as we need to be in execution or in terms of assignments.

That's the way we expected it to go.

Kirk was a good fit for us in Cleveland because of the love he had for the game. He had the commitment to quality and the commitment to teaching that helped him succeed. He had expectations, but he was also fair with his players. His demeanor served him well, and I think that has helped him since he returned to Iowa.

This is the best place for him because we know him the best. We know what his workout levels are. How to challenge him and how to monitor him and how to treat any problems that he would have doing it just like any other player. Basically, whatever he's doing, he's doing here.

Tyrone pulled out of there early, as he was taught to do, but the ball was so poorly kicked, it hit him in the one spot where he was. He's been here for three years, won a couple of championships, been a great leader. He's done really everything that we've asked.
