As a historical society, we knew we had to preserve history, but now we have to pursue it, too.

We know it's incomplete. We know there is a disparity (with the World War II veterans list) and we want to correct it.

With any type of program like that, delays are absolutely possible, and when they happen, they're not unexpected.

(With) 500 at-bats, you're an everyday player, and I got that last year. So that proves I'm an everyday player ? but it's just not at the same position right now.

I'm OK with it. It's just the situation I'm in right now. I'll make the best of it and see what happens.

There's only a couple of guys doing what I'm doing, so (we) take pride in what we're doing. There's a lot of guys getting groomed to be that type of player in the minors now, so there's definitely going to be a position on every team for a guy like us.

We've got a lot of depth ? and a lot of talent, a lot of young talent, and got good veteran leadership. Like I said, we're hoping to pull it together and play into October.

Traditionally, around the world, tea is planted on hillsides. We're flat as a pancake, but we have sandy soil and ditches next to each field so the water drains away. The plants have been here in South Carolina for over 100 years and they're happy here.

Everybody in this clubhouse has high expectations for themselves and the team. And we're all on the same page with those expectations — we're going from day one to playing well into October and playing in the World Series.

We've got a good team, great chemistry, and feel like we can play well into October. But it starts on the third against the Pirates. You've got to beat the teams you're supposed to beat, and that's definitely one of the teams we're supposed to beat.

They're almost like coaches to us because they've been around the game so much.

If we get off to a good start this year, who knows what can happen down the stretch. Just like the White Sox last year got off to a good start and kept a good start all the way through the season through the World Series. That is what we are looking to do.

Owner input would be very useful -- the sooner the better, and hopefully baseball understands that.

I think it will be interesting to see what input the new owner has in the design.

It was just his day. And there's nothing we could do about it.
