The first half they certainly were the aggressor, the dominant side. They created opportunities for themselves off the run of play and especially off restarts. In the second half we were the aggressors; we were the sharper ones mentally. It [was] just a matter of playing good soccer: sometimes a short passing combination, sometimes switching the point of attack, sometimes going through the middle, sometimes going wide. Watson worked out with us this summer and I have scouted him at New Mexico. I think he is an extremely versatile guy who can play in the midfield on both sides and even defensively in the midfield. The impression we got from him last summer was important because he played with and competed with our guys.

We have known about Tyson for quite some time. He was raised in the Irvine Strikers system under a former player of mine who swears by him. We have watched him in the NCAA quarterfinals, the combine and when he was in the residency program. He is a strong central defender, strong with the ball and left footed.

We saw (Watson) the last part of the college season. We also saw him last summer. You get as much of an impression there as you do in isolated games. We were impressed with how he played with and against our guys.

When they come in here it's time to sharpen things and it's time to be able to deal with things collectively.

Without a doubt. They know what the standards are. The young players coming in, they are guessing.

The people that we are looking at are pillars. They will be guys who will do something special in order to make us better.

Just his physical presence (6-foot-5, 210) scares the you-know-what out of you.

As our game (MLS) is getting better, it's getting better, faster than the college game.

What Eddie brings is a combination of excitement and effect, he plays the game in an attractive fashion. He is blessed with speed and touch, but that leads to goals and wins. He is an impact player.

We obviously had the opportunity to see Will. I think we saw Will his whole high school career and some sessions when he would come out and work with us. From day one he impresses you. He is, technically, a very gifted individual.

Basically he coming out of college right now, he is a rookie. He is a little ahead of the other guys coming in because he has had a year with Chicago. He has also had some additional experience with the U-20 team.

We're looking for him to put it all together. For sure he's gifted enough in many areas of the game but he also has work to do.

When the good Lord was handing out the physical traits in terms of quickness, agility, speed and coordination, he was at the front of the line and maybe he went in line a couple of times for some of them. But he knows how to use it. For a young man of 21 he's got a pretty decent set of technical skills. He can score with either foot. He can score in the air.

I don't know who in this room had their stuff together at 21. There are going to be lesser days. That's what the coaching staff, Curt and his veteran teammates are here for. It's a support system.
