Some of the managers missed some of the initial run up in tech stocks, ... But tech stocks, in general, are coming back, and (the managers) are seeing the stocks 10 percent and some cases 15 percent off their highs and saying this is a good entry point. Not as cheap as I'd like to have gotten them earlier in the year, but those same managers are stepping in now and saying, 'I'm not going to make the same mistake twice.'

There are probably way too many integration specialists from the software perspective -- but as in most markets, about three companies are getting 70 percent of the market. So the market will start to consolidate if not through acquisition then through de facto market share gains.

To the extent that they're shifting the focus on shareholder value, that's a good thing and people want to hear that,

It's going to take collectively lots of these units over time, to create some measurable value for shareholders. They have a lot of shares outstanding and to make a difference they'd have to have some pretty big actions to float to investors.

It is a team environment. People who do well at Oracle are people who understand that and don't mind exchanging ideas.

Our customers haven't been shy about their opinions.

We're an open company and support many databases.

We're willing to compete on the merits.

This is another area that's very strategic to us. The technology is very impressive.

The good thing about standards is, almost anybody we buy has a similar architecture to what we're marching toward.

Our applications provide customers with the tools they need to manage the information that runs their businesses. IBM has become the leader in the Unix marketplace and our partnership with the company will allow Oracle to take advantage of the momentum they have generated over the last few years.

The fast rate of development, high literacy rate and availability of information technology skills in each of these cities represent an untapped reservoir of future economic wealth.

Even if it may not be the most elegant or cool feature, if people are using it, and they think it's important, then it needs to be there for people to upgrade. There will be some things that we thought were cool, but no one ever used, so that doesn't make it. This is a chance to do it the right way.

We have more on-demand customers. A big percentage over time will want us to choose those applications. We will have enough power products at this layer for it to makes sense.

Oracle is halfway to Fusion. A year later, we're 50 percent done and that's the tough half. [We're] pretty proud of that.
